Sprint

The first western MA community code sprint. Is starting to be planed. The event was discussed a thttp://groups.drupal.org/node/134184 but no planing has has happened till now.

Who is this for?

Everyone who wants an active role in the hard labor of the Drupal community. If you want to learn code come and join us. If you want to learn how to compose better documentation and fix existing documentation that works as well. If you are a designer and want to hel drupal have a better UI then feel free to come and speek up and provide pointers. And of couse we will want people who want to help project mangage this event.

What will we do?

After the discusion on in the above thread, I am thinking that starting a port of the twitter module to Drupal 7 would be a good thing to do.
Documenting the set up and configure of oauth (a dependency of Twitter) is also needed.

Take a look get ready to submit some patches.

I will get a server ready for the night that has a patched repo that we can all submit to and patch against.

Where is it going to happen?

To balance things out (location wise).
.If we have under 10 people sign up this will meet in the left-click board (thank you kidizzle) room at 78 Main Street, Suite 401 Northampton.
Also this will give me extra time to set up a gitolite server for the sprint. Plus 3 of us will already be there.
If we have more then that then we will take up limako's offer of using a Umass facility.

UMass Biology

We could use the Biology Computer Resource Center at UMass Amherst. Or, what might be better is one of the intro labs (303) which is closer to the parking lot and has more table space for people to spread out and work in groups. I'm looking into that.

Thank you for the offer,
I think to do some balancing of Wmass events that unless we have heaps of people signed up then we will do the sprint in the Left click conference room.
We have meet ups in amherst and beers in greenfield. I just think it would be nice to bring bring an event to Nton.

Sitting at the conference table we will all be facing each other and able to shout out to each other.

heh, IIRC there was a certain annual festival on this day in Amherst commons. Not sure if it matters, but from what I remember it wasn't very conducive to coding.

HI just wanted to let you know that if you want to get more (than 10) people
I am ALWAYS happy to also list your event on the Northampton Web Developers calendar: http://www.meetup.com/nohowebdev/
We currently have 205 local members.

Also the MEF community room around the corner from left click can hold a lot of people and is free-
unless you rent the projector for $20.
I also have other locations available if you need more secure internet connections.

So whole schedule?

cwworks's picture

I'm really interested in helping out with the code sprint and will need the background provided at the meetup. I also like watching others drink beer. So, if one wanted to participate in each of these events, the schedule is as follows:

6PM: Meetup/ background
7PM: Code sprint
8PM or later: Beer

I will be providing some

Is the location of the sprint confirmed for 78 Main Street, Suite 401 Northampton? Parking as we can find it?

Thanks!

The parking garage behind

The parking garage behind Thornes is probably the easiest place to find a spot. I believe it's an hour free, then 50 cents an hour afterwards. Otherwise, there are a few free spots around if you can find one.
