could someone list the different ways to handle the menu system.
for example, there is the $menubar... is there a way to theme that? perhaps some article I could read about how to use it.
also, what are the other options and perhaps some articles about them.
the rest of zen is pretty straight forward so far.

What do you mean my handle? There are the primary and secondary links menus which show up in zen if they are enabled and populated with menu items.
I'd like to know more about how other people handle menus also. Of late, I've been creating menus for certain areas of my site that are context sensitive and sticking them in a sidebar. That way if you're viewing the part of the site that has to do with a resume, you might get a menu that has links to more detail on your experience in x field. That's a bad example, but hopefully you get the idea.
