HTML5 versus Flash for Automatically creating Presentations from Node Audio and images ?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi guys, I might be overly optimistic in my quest but I'm hoping that they might be some community wisdom out there that might guide me away from "known" dead-ends. I have Course and Lesson content in the form of (illustrative) images and (narrative) audio along with durations. I have been investigating how I might automatically format and present that to authenticated users. It would be great to have a format that would play on iPhone/iPad as well, but I'm an experienced Objective C programmer so I can do something custom if necessary using Drupal Services to get the original content and render it on the Client.
I know that Browser support is still evolving but would it make sense to try to generate HTML5 content ?
Would it make more sense to put the effort into creating Flash content ?
Is treating the content as a Slideshow with Audio the best approach to presenting it ?
Or should I concentrate on something like XSPF playlist format and deal with the native assets ?
Is there some other technology that might work on Desktop and Mobile Browsers for this purpose ?
I'd love to get some feedback on the "best" path from people more experienced with Drupal than me, cheers,
Fergal

I was able to rig up a proof

I was able to rig up a proof of concept a few years ago using the jwplayer, "slides" and a single MP3. Essentially what you do is embed the audio piece using jwplayer. Then you use their javascript api to make it so that at certain time points the cover image for the audio piece changes on the player. You then also link the screenshot / slideshow slide on one side of the player to dynamically skip to the correct place in the video. I Don't have that code unfortunately (and its really old anyway). As for the HTML5 debate I know jwplayer can switch over to HTML5 based on the user viewing it.

No idea if this would apply in this instance but it's probably worth a shot since I'm sure they would have to have their js api work with html5 content as well.
