Hi. I am creating an E-Portfolio. At this moment in time, all of my pages are created with Profiles2. This made it easy to create pages where the user could upload and edit their information. So at the moment, the user can create their profile, resume, and create an image gallery. What I would like is a button which says create portfolio, and it will take all of these pages and display them within one neat page. Is there are module which would allow me to do this or what would the best approach be?

Many thanks

Homebox maybe

I'm using Homebox to make a dashboard that knits these types of things together. Great for over-view types of things or you could probably use it with node as block to get nodes displayed in it too if you really wanted to (http://drupal.org/project/nodeasblock).

I have just recently found a great solution using form block, it does exactly what I need. I am trying to solve one more thing though. When I create a content type, there is a title field which is compulsory. This field also displays to the user, and they have to fill it in. Is there any way of removing this?

A great handy little module for exactly this need. Very useful for node-based profiles as well.

Wow that module was so

Wow that module was so perfect for the job, I dont know why they make that a mandotory field in the first place though. I was just wondering about a couple of small things. I want users to upload files of their work, images, presentations etc. I could do this using CCK. Is it ok to use the file field even if what they upload is images? (but it might be more than images, which is why I am considereing a file field and a image field - depends on what you suggest).

Secondly, I am using a Bartik Theme. At this moment I have my menu items in the navigation bar. I would like to display them as tabs instead. If I set them to main menu items, they dont seem to want to display as tabs. Do I need to do something additional in order to get this to work?

Thank you

Actually, forget that last

Nerkesa P's picture

Actually, forget that last post for now, something more urgent has come up :-(

So as things stand, I have created a custom content type. I then use Form Block to add it to a page. I then link it into my navigation menu. This is all perfect. Now when I test everything, I enter information into my form. I click on submit and the information is displayed to me nicely (in a view tab, with an edit tab next to it if I want to make changes). This is how it should now stay forever, as if I need to make changes, I will now use the edit tab. However, if I click away, and then come back to my page, it displays the empty form again. How can I get it so that once content has been created, that content then becomes the page?

Many thanks

i've done similar but had to

btopro's picture

i've done similar but had to write custom code essentially seeing if the user had submitted content of node type_xyz and then querying for it. Not sure how you'd accomplish that w.o. a little glue.

I had a feeling I would have

Nerkesa P's picture

I had a feeling I would have to do something like that. The problem is that the created node is always a different name. If I create a profile first, the node will be 1. If I then create a About me page, the node will be 2. However, if done the other way around, the node names will be reversed.
Another option is to use CCK with views. The problem is that I was told that views is unable to display input fields (not sure if this is true or not?). What I am trying to achieve is exactly like some of the pages on the Funny Monkey site, in their Drupal 6 portfolio example. This is the reason I used form block and I managed to get it exactly like it. My problem is the displaying of content after it has been created.
I am working in Drupal 7 as a requirement. Just out of interest, do you or anyone else take on jobs whereby I show what I am attempting to do (through wireframes, images or examples), and you produce a tutorial for me on how to do it? I dont want someone to do the work for me, but I do feel that I need a lot of support in what I want to do.

Many thanks
