Outline Designer for Drupal 6!!!!

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I've been working on a port of the Outline Designer module to Drupal 6 and it's almost ready for release. I've got a demo up of the current progress / direction that the project is taking but it's drastically changed since the Drupal 5 version; both architecturally and in terms of usability. It now piggy-backs functionality of the Ajax, Book, and Thickbox modules. You can check out the demo / screencast below. Feedback is muuuuuch appriciated as this module is still geared towards making Drupal more usable for the education crowd.

Thanks to everyone pointing out issues and testing it out. The positive feedback has been much appreciated! There are a few issues left with it but I should be able to get a beta out the door before Thanksgiving unless something goes wrong at work.

Question:

Is it possible to move branches or even nodes from one book to another, preserving the nid and path alias?

If not directly is there a workaround that would be reliable?

yes, and built into books

There is a built in way in the books architecture to do this. If you have rights you can click on the outline tab or open the outline fieldset that's on the node edit form. I've intentionally hidden it while doing an ajax edit of the content to make sure people don't goof up the tree / interface they are working on but moving 1 node to another book will send all it's children there too.

I've thought of adding a way of doing this into the interface I've been building out but I haven't found it a common operation (at least internally at PSU). I've been asked about doing that maybe twice in the last 2 years so I doubt it will make it's way into the interface unless someone else mocks something up in the usability group.

My bad for not testing, I'd only worked on one book at a time and never realized that the outline was "meta-book"!

Thanks. . .
