Hi I have upgraded the drupalED 5.6 to drupal 5.12 and the have also updated the other modules available.
You can download the files from
http://www.stxaviers.edu.in/drupaled.tar.gz
The pack contains phpmyadmin dump and drupal 5.12.
user ID 1: admin
pass: ineedchange
Just import the database file drupaled.sql.zip to phpmyadmin
change the sites/default/settings.php as per your need
( Dont forget to change the mysql password and database name etc)

I think its important to note here that you only want to import the database if you are installing DrupalEd for the first time, and that otherwise you want to run "update.php".

Upgrade status of DrupalEd
You might look here http://groups.drupal.org/node/15964 ("From Drupaled 5.6 to Drupaled 6") for further information regarding the upgrade status of DrupalEd.

Thats all knowledge I have! I'll try creating a profile. I haven't experimented with it.
And about drupal 6 all the modules except daterange,views_fastsearch and buddylist have been updated.
Just figuring out how to get the original functionality to D6 from D5!
Stuck with personal_group and bookmarks! Where do I get them?

Got the problem!
Hi, I noticed that 5.x used views1 and 6.x uses views2. Thats why none of the custom views are seen after upgrade from 5.12 to 6.6.
I tried exporting and importing but at sometime it gave me error.. Like cant be imported ..views 1.. etc.
Is there any solution. How to change those parameters.
Can anybody pls help importing the views in druplED 5.6 to drupalED 6.6, Like give me views2 code for import.
Thanks
Himtuna

Can I get at least three
Can I get at least three people to test this upgrade, and report back in this thread?
I'd love to get this out as the 5.12 release -- Frank Ralf did some stellar work on earlier upgrades, but we were swamped with internal work and by the time we got the site installed there were already multiple other modules that needed upgrading.
RE the upgrade from D5 to D6 -- DrupalEd will definitely be overhauled for that upgrade. The Daterange and Views Fastsearch modules will likely not be upgraded to D6, as that functionality has been incorporated into other modules. Buddylist is a different story, and in D6 I will probably be looking to get lightweight buddylist functionality using the Flag module.
Also, in terms of a straight-up upgrade, the change from Views 1 to Views 2 will be substantial. There is a Views 1 to Views 2 converter that comes with views, but I haven't tried it recently so I can't vouch for it. I experimented with earlier versions, and the converted views generally needed some clean up afterwards.
One of the things on my to-do list is write up my notes on the D6 version of DrupalEd. My main goals for the D6 version are loosely organized around these three items:
A ground-up rewrite to make the base install leaner, and take full advantage of Views2 and CCK improvements. This will also include some rework to include the Embedded Media Field and Filefield modules.
Ways to have more community involvement in building and maintaining the profile. This definitely includes building out an install profile that is hosted on d.o, with multiple maintainers who have commit access.
Make a meaningful use of the drupaled.org domain -- all ideas welcome.
But first: can we get some testing love on Himanshu's work?
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks! I am working on D6
Please people test it out to see if there is any bugs in it.
Right now I am working on importing all those views manually to the D6 DrupalED. It will be ready by tomorrow, then we can think of adding more stuff and more complex CCK+Views+OG to give robust student profile and social networking.

Thats what I would like to see in the next release of D6 DrupalED.

We need collaborative work
I have installed the updated D6 DrupalEd at
www.stxaviers.edu.in
I need volunteers who could further take the task of:
user ID 1: admin
pass: pls contact me via mail (dont wanna make it public)
ftp,mysql pass: pls contact me!
Or you can register and I'll set all the permissions to use.
Porting DrupalEd to D6 should be the first priority of this group in order to get more out of drupal community who is tirelessly working on providing new features to this wonderful CMS/framework. Let us we all work together to get it on tracks of D6 and more and more features.
To avoid bloating this group with discussions we can create a discussion board for all our work! Pls put your views on it. ( I'll be creating it on http://himtuna.com/community/drupaled/)
Thanks

How would talking about
How would talking about DrupalED v.6.x bloat this group? The whole purpose of this group is to discuss how to use Drupal in education so discussions around the design of a new DrupalED fit precisely within the group's purpose. If we moved the discussion to another location, we would lose many of the members in the transition.

I was fearing the things
I was fearing the things will be misunderstood..
I think we'll be discussing only the backend stuff there,
like which modules to install,
or post what work you have done
or discuss shall we include this feature or not.
The group is about using drupal in education, we must help out people looking for it!
DrupalEd is for sure gonna be their first choice. But we need to give more indepth discussion about rebuilding the DrupalEd6 in our backyard.
Because we all are going to work on one setup of drupal.
Had it been on our local system, I agree there wasnt much need of separate discussion. As we were free to make any changes and post the problems here at group.
To fasten the process to port it to D6 we need to work together, and I thought that might be god idea.
That was first step, to "discuss discuss and tell people what to do with DrupalEd 6"
The second step would be to create a book/reference/readme for people struggling to tweak the drupalEd.
(Because I am still figuring out what more is there in DrupalEd 5.6 :)
A write-up describing all the important features of DrupalEd, including Og, Views ,CCk and how people could use them to tailor the DrupalEd according to their needs.
Lets get back to work:TODO
1) How to reset the site date. I still see the members registered for 1 year and 33 weeks!
2) I tried importing views manually, but Og is giving me errors,"this field not found that field not found"
3) Can we use events module or any other module for assignment.
4).... and much more
Pls mention who'll be working on which task and can ask me the pass for drupalEd6 installed at stxaviers.edu.in and can start discussing at himtuna.com/community/drupaled

Everybody is busy!
I am getting tired waiting for someone to come up with "Lets get is to drupal 6"
I have upgraded to Drupal 6, now what all I need is views to be imported and adding few more features with
event+signup, workspace, .etc
If anybody is interested please let me know!
