Also, it would be great if you wrote up a case studt describing the design choices you made as you built your site.

Hello All,

I created this site as my thesis/project and would like our group members to give me feedback. I have not read the book but hope to get my own copy soon.

you can visit my site at httP://research.poly.edu/~epoly Once you log in, please navigate to the CP 900 course.

You can use two credentials,
1)
Login: student
password: student

2)
Login: instructor
password: instructor

For each type of role you will have two different set of course tools as you navigate through the 'CP 900" course. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Some quick notes:

Most of these notes focus on usability

From the perspective of an anonymous user:

  1. Clean urls are not on -- not a big deal, but the site could be more user-friendly with clean urls turned on
  2. On the home page at http://research.poly.edu/~epoly/ the anon user is presented with a "My Courses" block. This doesn't make sense, as the anon user might not have any courses. I recommend turning this block off for anon users with the core block visibility settings.
  3. At http://research.poly.edu/~epoly/?q=content/course-listing-fall-08 you have one general message. Using a php snippet, or separate pages for different roles, you could create a more intuitive message for your users.

From the perspective of a student:

  1. The UI is clean, and simple. Extraneous options have been removed. However, to the student logging in to the site, there is no real breakdown of what the student can do. I suspect this will be at least partially mitigated when the site becomes populated with more posts/activity, but a single page giving an overview of what students can do would be helpful.

From the perspective of an instructor:

  1. You might want to consider splitting the group-related functionality into a separate block.
  2. None of the OG-specific blocks are currently on -- they could be useful for instructors (and possibly for students).
  3. As with the student role, a single page describing what instructors could do would be a nice piece of documentation.

Just some quick thoughts (approx 10 mins) -- there's a lot I'm glossing over.

Cheers,

Bill
