The Media module image gallery uploader is great: robust, multiple batch uploading.
However I would like to ask if a project is being considered whereby Flickr is used as the hosting of the images?
This would provide 2 benefits:
1) publishing content to a wider audience on more platforms without duplicate effort i.e. to the site and to flickr at the same time
2) reduced bandwidth and filespace used on the hosting - particularly for budget and shared hosting
Some detail about the implementation I would be looking for:
- The uploader interface would be the same as currently for the media
- The individual Flickr account could be set per user or groups of users.
Scenarios:
A drupal based-magazine site that has a parallel Flickr site for the case where several users can publish to the site's Flickr account, without needing the Flickr login credentials (these would be stored securely as account fields with a higher access-rights i.e. admin user).
A drupal based community site where each user has their own Flickr account and posts they make on the drupal site are posted to their Flickr account also.
Thoughts?
(I'd certainly like to help make a module for this (code, test, document) if this hasn't been done or is in progress.)

Hi, any luck for your idea?
Hello,
I'm thinking to have the same idea on my drupal's site, do you know which module can do that?
Thanks & regards,
Max.
