Library website

We're in the middle of building a new drupal website and I'm wondering how to best handle integration with library database searches.

Our current (ancient) library website: http://departments.oxy.edu/library/ is using asp to route the search. Are there any modules or best practices for doing this in drupal? My guess is it would be something using PHP whether a module or custom?

Thanks,
Becky

I'd probably just copy the widget's HTML off of the existing site for each tab and then add them each to a block in drupal. Then use something like http://drupal.org/project/quicktabs to allow them to be tabs that have the same affect as the current system. You could write the blocks in code and use the built in form API but I'm not sure it's gaining you anything especially since these are being posted to legacy systems anyway.

Thanks! I'm going to look

Thanks! I'm going to look into quicktabs, looks like it might work well. I'm assuming if I use this option, I won't be able to have the radio buttons (search by author, title, etc), but just use the "all" search for each tab?

Becky,

We are interested in the perspective of librarians on Integration of Drupal CMS with Electronic Catalog or ILS.

You have identified that you would like to root the searches in the ILS using Drupal.

What other possible integrations do you see needed for a library website based on CMS like Drupal?

A single-sign on with the library catalog would also be very helpful.
