Hello, all,
There are three education-related sessions currently proposed for DrupalCon Paris -- if these are sessions you would like to attend, head on over to the site and vote on them. The rating/voting period is currently set to close on July 12 (which seems short to me, given that the proposal deadline was the 8th, but that's a different story).
The sessions are:
Training Drupal professionals: Towards an open Drupal training curriculum and certification
Organic Groups and Views: Building Better Community Sites
I have alse been in contact via email with bohemicus (although at this point I owe him an email -- it's on the way!) about working together to organize one or more education-related Birds of a Feather events.
So:
If any of the sessions above look interesting, vote them up.
If you will be going to DC Paris, comment in the thread.
If you would be interested in a BoF meetup, what are some topics you would want to cover?
Looking forward to meeting up with you in Paris!
Cheers,
Bill

Community session (inc. Drupal Dojo and drupal open learning)
This session proposed Benjamin Melançon has some crossover/compliment in that it will serve as a progress report some of the ongoing learning, training, and community building efforts in Drupal -

There also is an accompanying wiki (with comments enabled) to help flesh out the proposal and also identify points of ongoing collaboration. As these efforts are wide open, leadership/participation from interested parties in the education space would be of great benefit to everyone involved.

Drupalcon Paris - education
Hi all
I'm learning Drupal, attending Paris and have voted for some education sessions - will check latest listing.
Yes Bill interested in BoF session on education related content types (lesson plans, curriculum planning, mind mapping type tools?) and customising a distro. I must check DrupalEd but so far plan to use SCF to create a new site:
http://sciencecollaboration.org/
There are several content types (bio-med) I do not need so wondered about reusing (adapting) existing content types / or make a fresh start?
Plus learning more about the use of profiles - what are the limits (may have read this somewhere...)?
Look f/w to meeting everyone.
Best,
Peter J

Hello, Peter,
Thanks for the link to the SCF download -- I hadn't seen that.
RE moving content types between sites: CCK supports this, and it's pretty easy to do this.
For more advanced featuresets, the Features module is pretty amazing, and this is the direction I see automated installs moving towards -- http://drupal.org/project/features -- the DevSeed folks have a series of blog posts and videos on the DevSeed blog that are pretty amazing. Perusing the content at http://www.developmentseed.org/tags/features is definitely time well spent.
RE DrupalEd, I would hold off, as the download that is currently available is horribly out of step with what is currently possible with Drupal -- we have yet to build a D6 version, as we have been swamped with other work. When we (eventually) get around to it, we will be incorporating Features, and some of what we build as part of our KDI work.
Cheers,
Bill

I'll be there
We've recently made the decision to move to Drupal for our main website, from a home-grown php based CMS. I'll be in Paris hoping to learn a lot, and I've voted for the education related sessions.
