Hi Guys,
Hope this is the right place to post some thoughts on UX/I in Drupal 8.
If not, please point me in the right direction. Thanks.
Views
(Not a huge issue for us who understand views, but might help some newbies):
When creating a new view, if I am happy with the default settings from the "add view" page, I am brought to a new screen, but there is nothing to suggest that I don't need to save the view, or any button called "Save" just in case I do. I looked around a bit, then decided to add "something" to "see what would happen" … then a "Save" button (and helpful notice came up on the screen). Perhaps this helpful notice could display at all times:
- if I don't need to save: "All changes have been saved"
- if I do need to save: "Changes are stored temporarily …"
Main Menu
How do I edit the main menu using the "quick edit" mode? I can't find a lnk to the main menu edit form. Perhaps I'm missing something.
Node Editing (or any inline editing):
When using quick edit and I click on "Save", I don't expect to have to click back on the edit cog to have to select "Exit quick edit".
If I click on a quick edit link by accident (for example, the first node in a view rather than view itself), it is not clear that I need to click on it a second time to exit the quick edit.
Module Search:
Module search looks to me like I am able to search for modules (on Drupal.org) from this screen. This would be a great feature. In the meantime, perhaps we should label this "Search your modules"?
Modules Save Button
It would be nice to have a save option on the modules page at the top of the page, so if you enable a module near the top (actions, for example), you don't have to scroll through a large list of modules to get to the save button.

Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the feedback Mark!
Finding the right labels for buttons and actions is tricky as some of your examples show.
You might want to browse or search the core issue queue. This is the link to all issues tagged 'usability' (which is our catch-all tag for anything ui/ux etc. related) http://drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal?issue_tags=Usability
Issue for the module page search: http://drupal.org/node/1848064
I think there's an issue with a request for a floating 'Save' button as well, not sure if I support the idea though :)
Does this help? Let me know,
Thanks again!
Thanks, and yes
Thanks, and yes that helps. I'll have a look at those links asap and offer my thoughts there.
