IMHO, installation profiles / distros are usually nice to try out and see how people did things but rarely what you want to deploy. They're usually made with certain philosophical design decisions in them that fit the use case of those who make them and fit SOME of what other people look for. Every distro i've run with I end up taking ideas from (which is part of why I think features will be so powerful) as opposed to the whole thing for a production environment.

DrupalEd not yet available for Drupal 6
AFAIK there's no installation profile for Drupal 6 out yet (not to mention Drupal 7). Don't know anything about PhpEdu.
