Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi, is there a simple way to disable all the modules, menus, etc. and make DrupalED look like a new install of Drupal?

I would like to do this because I need to create a couple of forums right now on a new site, but I don't want to implement all the features, menus, etc of DrupalED?

After adding the forums, I would like to work with DrupalED in a local envirnoment and then upload to the host site at various phases of the project.

Is this possible or does it make managing the databases impossible?

thanks
-Bob

If you want to start with stock Drupal and build up, you can just do a standard install using the DrupalEd codebase -- the regular install procedure will work fine.

The sql file that ships with the DrupalEd installation contains the config options that shapes DrupalEd -- if you don't use that file, you'll get a standard drupal install.

DrupalEd uses Drupal, but it doesn't change any core modules/functionality/etc -- this allows people to extend it just as they could any Drupal site.

Cheers,

Bill

Merge Drupal + DrupalED install . . .

Hi Bill,

I've just been with Drupal for barely 5 months now and I must say its been a great experience. I had started out with Joomla as my entry point to web development, it was quite confusing, but with Drupal, it was a good walk. But just 2 weeks ago I came across DrupalED, when I had got to the point of launching my maiden site http://www.allnigerianstudents.com a website for Nigerian Students, but I had some issues I need to fix up, with which I was having so much difficulty. with DrupalED, I saw a lot of those things come very easy. But then my major problem.

My site is just about developed, with so much time and resources going into it and now I have features in DrupalED that I want to have on my site [[http://www.allnigerianstudents.com]] . How can I marry the two sets of features. My major problem with DrupaED is the frontpage setting. I was thinking if i could get the front page to work like it is on my site, I could just cope the database of my site [[http://www.allnigerianstudents.com]] and super impose it on a DrupalED install in order to marry the two sites. But failing that, I may then have to move the site features bit by bit. Another issue with the DrupalED, for me is to be able to edit some of the titles on the pages, especially with the default login destination My Work subtitle 'Select a Course to filter your content' I'd have liked to edit that. Again the courses are still listed under groups. Shouldnt that be My Groups & Courses, rather than just My Group.

My main live site is [[http://www.allnigerianstudents.com]] , my test site is http://ts.livingportals.com/transdruped, where I've been playing and enjoying DrupalED.

The features I'd love to see married on my sites are:

1. Adding images/photos to content in such a flexible way. On my site, its been difficult. I'm using image, image attach, etc. The WYSIWYG editor - widgEditor was unable to do this, but with DrupalED, its so simple.

2. DrupalED has the beautiful feature of keywords, my site doesnt have that.

3. My site doesnt have Wiki.

4. The menu layout - My Work Place, etc, is really beautiful. I'm not so sure hoe its done and if it can be done on my site, with my present theme.

5. The Private and Public work spaces are great too.

6. I dont have podcasting on my site. I tried to setup something with audio, but I prefer the podcasting on DrupalED.

6. I prefer Bio to my present profile setting.

7. Courses & Groups: It seems a bit muddled up to me. The courses are all listed together with the groups, I'd love to have the seperated and distinct.

I'm not sure I really got it all layed out clearly, but I sure hope I can get some help.

How does or how will all this modification affect the upgrading of the site? Will it present any problems or issue?
