I think it would be a good idea to provide a download link to the latest version of DrupalED in the description of this group, and perhaps also in the description of the DrupalED project on d.o. Currently the project page refers to here, but there is no link to be found at first glance.

I noticed it was similarly
I noticed it was similarly difficult to find the latest version over at FunnyMonkey. The most obvious link goes to the initial version, while the link to 5.4 is now hiding about halfway down the Recent Blog Posts list. A glaringly prominent link for downloading the latest version would be a good idea there as well...
Yeah, I know.
This internet stuff is HARD.
All kidding aside, this has been on my priority list for probably the last 6 months.
And a redesign of FunnyMonkey has been a priority for the last year and a half.
Oy.

yes, but...
Eventually, we want to have DrupalEd available as a downloadable package from d.o --
However, our goal with DrupalEd is to make a package that is simple to use for non-technical users. For a lot of people, the process of setting up TinyMCE or configuring the audio module is a daunting task. These modules require downloads of code from an external source, ftp'ing that code to a specific directory, etc. For many users, these steps are a barrier to entry that will take hours/days to overcome. For reasons that have been discussed at length on the development list, these external libraries can't be hosted on Drupal.org, and thus would never be available via cvs.
Our commitment with DrupalEd is to create a profile consisting of software freely available on drupal.org. Eventually, we want this to be a downloadable tarball from d.o, but for now we will continue to maintain this externally in order to keep the barrier to entry as low as possible.
Cheers,
Bill

Installation Profile?
I was surprised, as of the last time I downloaded and installed DrupalED a couple of months ago, that you had not yet created an installation profile. I had to manually copy the SQL to my database. It's fine by me to do that, but tech-illiterate of course won't have a clue.
If I have some extra time next month, I will chip in some code on this if you'd like. I have been using Moodle to accomplish what DrupalED does, but always accompanied by a Drupal site. So, it will be cool to eventually have DrupalED surpass Moodle as educational content delivery (I wish they (Moodle) would just join forces with Drupal project, to be honest, same with ELGG people)

I would LOVE to see some
I would LOVE to see some contributions on this!
If you are interested in building the actual profile, that would be awesome.
If you're interested in contributing in any other way, that would be awesome too!

contributions...
Bill
Each DrplEd distro includes a template wiki, which can be expanded for each site install. But is there a publically accessible D/Ed wiki, into which contributions could be 'put back' as D/Ed users add to their own? It may be a while before I'm ready to do this, but I'd be glad to know it was there so that it could be done.
It would also be a place where 'stubs' (?) could be set up, which could then be added to, in terms of documentation. Those wanting to contribute something could then go along to the wiki and see what is needed?
