Hej Carl
Some Drupal guys (actually 14 of us!) had a meeting in Stockholm this
Thursday. We decided that we would like to change the manager of the
Sweden group at groups.drupal.org, to someone visiting the group more
often. A plausible candidate for new manager is myself (since I'm a
frequent visitor and neutral from the point of web service companies).
I know that I already have admin access at the group page (thanks!), but
I have reason to believe that there are some management tasks that
cannot be performed by an admin.
Well - just so you know. Feel welcome to send comments or questions.
We will probably post an issue at the administration for
groups.drupal.org to ask for transfer of the management - then active
users in the group can add their comments to say that they agree to the
management change. If you could add your agreement as well it would of
course help.
========================================= my Reply=================================================
Hello,
I just returned from Belgium yesterday. I talked with some other Drupal programmers ( actual programmers not end users ) from both Sweden and Finland. As a result of my contacts there I have decided not to give up any of my Drupal affiliations just yet, one of the strongest of which is the fact that I am one of the first to actually promote and work as a Drupal developer in Sweden. So unless you guys have come up with a good list of reasons that the manager status of may account should be changed then I am saying no. You are welcome to protest this with Dries or anyone but from my point of view there is no good reason to change. As of a few weeks ago all that wanted admin rights have recieved them and there have been no obvious problems in building up the group. I do in fact visit the group very often, once a day at least ( I am on Drupal.org the entire day ) and I recieved all posting in my email inbox. So I do not see how any changes in management will produce any differences or make anything better.
As per previous posts and emails you and other may continue to run the group as you see fit. I will do everything that I can to help and will not interfere with any of the groups decisions as long as they are not directed at one person and have an obviously non-productive end result.
regards,
Carl McDade
=======================================further comment===================================
Johan does a great job of running things as they are. He has complete control of the group along with others. But at some time or another there will be a need for a neutral party to make a vote, a tie breaker if you will. You may consider me that tie breaker.
That's all from me for now. I have some code to write and I am really busy trying to sort pages for the offline version of the Drupal 6 handbook.
Comments
Hej igen
Thanks for the comment (which I also received via e-mail, but choose to comment further here at g.d.o).
I was not aware that you visit g.d.o/sweden on a daily basis. (I actually thought you had more or less left the group for good.) Though it may still be a good idea to have a manager posting more regularly in the group, I don't think this is enough reson to change manager. As you say, most administration can be made by administrators - even creating new administrators - and you have been helpful in assisting with the rest.
Speaking of which: Could you change the name and order of the group categories to match the headers in the group introduction text? (I couln't do this as administrator...)
Well, that's it for now.
Best of luck with future Drupal work.

Changed weights
I am supposing that the weights are what need to be changed. They have been changed to
-7)Hur gör man..?
-6)Så gör man!
-5)Hej och presentation
-4)Händelser och träffar
-3)Projekt edit
-2)drupalsverige.se
-1)om gruppen
0)Inte Drupal-relaterat
Post any changes needed.
Ops
Yes, um, it was the term weights that neede to be changed. Ahem. I found the "edit terms" tab myself now. Better late than never?

Carl, nice to see that you,
Carl, nice to see that you, our group manager, is taking an active part here! If you are still committed to maintaining the group, then there is no reason for any change. If you find that you don't have enough time however, then I support Itangalo as a new manager as he is obviously very devoted to this community and has done a great job so far with his admin rights. After all, this is not about the position or status of different individuals – it's about how the group is best catered for.

I think that the group is
I think that the group is fine with maintaining itself and being self-sustaining. My contributions will probably not come in the form of direct postings but by providing materials and help to others located in Scandinavia. There are many new Drupal users that probably would not have even tried Drupal if not for my efforts to spread the documentation. The thing is it takes time to contribute anything and you have to prioritize. This is why I monitor the group rather than posting a bunch of blahblahblah. I save my time for when there is something to say or do.

Your right, this group is
Your right, this group is doing just fine. That doesn't mean I'm not somewhat bothered by what you're writing. I find that using a modest and generous tone is the best way to earn recognition and respect in communities like this. That means contributing what you can without demanding anything in particular in return – no one is forcing any of us to contribute. I know there are several people in Sweden who's been around in the Drupal community for a while, but I don't know who was here first or who has done the most for promoting Drupal in Sweden. But I don't really care. This isn't some land that you can come and claim for yourself.
Personally I learned about Drupal from international sources (can't remember which exactly) and not through anyone in Sweden.
Well, that's just my blahblahblah. I'm off to do some actual work (yes I do that too).

On promoting Drupal
I would argue that a good whay of promoting Drupal is to write useful posts here at g.d.o/sweden, while a bad way of promoting Drupal is to have the group as a platform for arguing. I will spend my time on the former, not on the latter, and I recommend everyone else to do the same (be the arguments justified or not).
