Can Drupal Go Pro? Products, Marketplaces, and SaaS

Robert Douglass initially crated a lot of buzz about this topic via his now famous Tweet several weeks ago. The purpose of the tweet was to croudsource a community response to a concept and to build tension for his upcoming presentation in Brussels about the topic.

Proposal for reorganization of "Prototype Git Book" & "Contributing Code" handbooks

I have posted a few changes and additions to the Prototype Git book and would like to do more, but I am having some frustration with the disorganization of the book.

In addition to a lot of duplication within the Git Book itself, there is a lot of duplication around the rest of Drupal.org's Getting Involved Guide.

For example, there are pages within that book for:

Adopt a Drupal Code of Conduct (#DCOC)

As our community grows, it is imperative that we preserve the what got us here. Namely, we keep Drupal a fun, welcoming, challenging, and fair place to play. IMO, we need to proactively state our shared ideals with respect to conduct. Think of this as coding standards for people :)

Our friends at Ubuntu have blazed a brilliant trail in this area. They use our CMS, and I propose that we use their Code of Conduct.

Online analytics team and proposal for drupal.org

On the SEO project team for the drupal.org redesign we recently discussed doing more with analytics measurement of SEO goals and objectives.

After analysing the Drupal.org Google Analytics data we found no goals are specified currently. Neither does there seem to be any governance or
methodology.

To optimize drupal.org we need to take analytics serious. Therefore we have created a proposal of integrating online analytics into Drupal.org and
into the Drupal community. Not just for SEO; we need to improve user experience and gain insights.

opt-in performance benchmarking on d.o.

hi all,

posted this on the dev list, adding it here in case some in this group don't watch the dev list.

i've been watching the inspiring work to integrate testing patches against HEAD at testing.drupal.org, and wondering if it would be useful/possible/desirable to have benchmarking integrated into d.o. as well?

like the testing stuff, but maybe opt-in?

i'd be willing to do some dev/sysadmin work, and i'd hope there would be enough dev resources, but we'd need some hardware dedicated to it.

thoughts? suggestions? flames?

cheers
justin

No copyright/TOS at drupal.org.

A user recently noticed there are no copyrights or TOS at d.o. Interested folks might want to weigh on on the Drupal webmaster's issue for Clarify Copyright status of content on Drupal.org's website.

Thanks,

Meta description for Drupal.org

The slogan proposal wiki and no follow discussions got me thinking about more seo stuff related to Drupal.org

One big thing that's missing is a meta description tag. This doesn't affect ranking so much any more, but it's often used in results listings and sometimes relevancy. It's also a good place to put all the buzzwords we might not want to stuff into a slogan.

Here's a first run:

Duplicate efforts?

See this node http://groups.drupal.org/node/7191 titled "Project Quality Metrics" in the Drupal.org redesign plan for the Drupal Association group. It looks like all that activity should either be here, or all the activity intended for this group should be there, i.e. duplicate efforts.
