Facebook API night at the A's Game
Say Hey!
About a dozen Facebook API developers and application designers are getting together at the A's game tomorrow night (Weds - 5/18) to cheer on the local squad, have a beer or two and talk tech in a casual, fun environment. Your TICKETS are FREE, but it's first come, first serve. Weather is due to dry up this afternoon, and should be delightfully brisk by tomorrow evening. Game starts at 7pm - take BART in / out of the city.
Contact me to reserve your spot today and I'll see you at the yard tomorrow night.

Leveraging Facebook, and efficiently managing the tools available for community communication and growth
I'm wanting to get a discussion going, primarily about creating a Facebook page for the South African Drupal community, secondarily about the other communication tools at our disposal and how best to use them.

Drupal Bigpipe Implementation
Its not new but I recently came across this article on how to decrease page rendering times using "bigpipe". There is an implementation for the same technology on github.
Has anyone thought about implementing Bigpipe for drupal? This is going to be a huge performance hit. How difficult is this going to be? Currently Drupal doesnt yet support similar header approach.

Read moreCCK Version of Facebook-style Micropublisher Needed! (Facebook Style Link Attachment)
Hi all,
I've been wrestling with this for a while now, and read various conversations about why the Facebook-style Micropublisher module was designed the way it was, without using CCK and non-node based. But looking at the way Drupal is going and the modular approach it is taking, especially with fields being core in D7, I think that this type of functionality would be superb to be able to achieve using the various CCK modules.

I've got a community blogging site that uses Organic Groups to organise users and lets them subscribe to and post blog entries into groups they're a member of. I want to make it easier for casual visitors and existing members to quickly join up to a group.
The first thing I want to do is be able to place a "Join this group" link inline with the content so that it's more visible to people.

New IRC channel: #drupal-facebook
I just created a new IRC channel on freenode called #drupal-facebook, which I hope will become an active place for discussion of best practices on integrating Drupal and Facebook.
There are quite a few modules in this space, so getting started can be confusing. I hope that having a place to talk online in real-time will make this less of a problem. Discussion of the Facebook API itself will be on-topic, as well.
