Best design for a Facebook application that runs on both JSP & Drupal (same-origin policy issues)

My organization (TechMission) currently has a live Facebook app on facebook.christianvolunteering.org, and a Drupal install at www.urbanministry.org. The Facebook app is coded in JSP, but runs off the Drupal database. (To see the app, visit http://apps.facebook.com/find-your-calling.)

New Chat Module?

I am thinking of making a chat module that would not require any external server or service to function, similar to http://drupal.org/project/chatroom. I don't like chatroom's way of doing things so I want to develop a new module. My desired result would a be a user to user chat very similar to gmail and facebook. I am thinking of integrating in with AppBar to make development easier as per this discussion, http://drupal.org/node/609884. Any suggestions or comments? Does anyone have a decent user to user chat that runs well without requiring an external service?

WNY Drupal User Group: the facebook group

For every new discussion and event posted here, I'm vowing to reference it on a corresponding FB group moving forward. Here's the link:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=111821745507258 ...so if you find it easier to keep up with stuff in your FB stream, just join.

Also, if you have a second you might want to help promote that group via twitter, if you use that. Here's a nifty link that takes all of the thought out of it for you: Tweet about the FB group

Intéressé par OpenAtrium ? CiviCRM ? SimpleNews ? Facebook connect ? Tattler ?

Facebook Connect

The web presence of SpareChangeNews.Net remains, unfortunately, small at best. As a primarily print publication, we've had a hard time getting our writers and editors on board with the website, let alone our readers.

New ways to promote Drupal in Montreal

All Drupal service providers in Montreal and Quebec have a vested interest in promoting the adoption and advancement of Drupal regionally. It's for this that TP1 has taken the initiative in spreading the word on advancements and events related to Drupal in Montreal by utilizing some additional channels to reach broader audiences.

We have created a Facebook Page for news and events related to Drupal Montreal. We believe Facebook Pages are an effective mechanism to reach the broader audience of Facebook users.

Social networking accounts: unified approach to store in external account data in user content profiles?

Currently, drupal integration with networking sites happens through contrib modules that all store their settings in different ways. For example, both Facebook Connect and Twitter store combinations of drupal user IDs with external IDs (Facebook uid, and Twitter account name) in custom database tables, and both provide a custom interface to edit social network account information in a user profile. Consequently, views integration is custom and relies on the contrib module to implement it.

facebook photostream

Hi,

Has anyone started working on or investigated a drupal module that would import images from facebook, using facebook connect.

I need one for a site I'm working on at the moment. I'll probably link it with imagefield and create nodes for each photo from a users facebook group.

If anyone has had a go at something similar or has an idea where to look please leave a reply..

Thanks

John

Expanding onto other sites

FYI for the current group members - I know that sometimes I forget to log into groups.drupal.org, so I created some tie-in accounts on other popular sites that I'll be updating along with this group. Hopefully this will help expand our reach to a few new members as well as help keep everyone more informed on their website of choice.

Twitter: http://twitter.com/drupalnebraska
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=237531965257
Upcoming: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/group/16259/

Also a reminder that we have our own IRC chat as well. If you don't know how to use IRC or have an IRC client, you can use the handy-dandy IRC webchat link: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=drupal-nebraska. Just type in the name you want to use and click the 'Connect' button! Hope to see you here, in IRC, or on the other sites!
