DUG meeting

The March meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday March 14th at 7:00pm at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.

As usual, we'll start off with introductions and news items.

For the main presentation, Dustin Currie will demo how to profile Drupal with xhprof.

Next, we'll get into some lighting talks...

This month, we're going to talk about apps! No, not iPad apps, Drupal Apps! http://drupal.org/project/apps Let's talk about some of the new things we learned at DrupalCon Denver!

1. Drupal 8 will be incorporating certain components of the Symfony2 PHP modular framework!
2. The D8 WSCCI Initiative (Web Services & Configuration Core Initiative) has split up because it was "too big to accomplish in one lifetime". Configuration is now it's own initiative, and Web Services has been scaled back a bit for the D8 release.

The February meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday February 15th at 7:30pm at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. That's the THIRD Wednesday and half an hour later than usual, due to another event on Feb. 8.

As usual, we'll start off with introductions and news items. We will also briefely review SANDcamp 2012, especially lessons learned.

For the main presentation, Jonathan Dietz will share some of the process he and the team at Digitaria took to build the new Taylor Guitars site.
Drupal 7, over 150 Contrib modules, Media Module, Ubercart 7 (versus commerce), Panels, Apache Solr, Varnish, Features, Views, roughly 110k lines of code written spread across 20 custom modules and the custom theme, and much, much more.

The North County DUG meeting is cancelled this month because IT'S TIME FOR SANDCAMP!!!
Instead, join us in downtown S.D. for some all-day Drupal trainings, and then a pre-camp social event at The Knotty Barrel, 844 Market Street from 6-9pm.

The January meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday January 11th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.

As usual, we'll start off with introductions and news items.

Then we will focus on SANDcamp organization. We still need lots of volunteers to make this event happen on Jan. 25 - Jan. 28, especially for the Friday and Saturday program. Please think what you could contribute.

For our main presentation, we have an opportunity for someone to dry-run their SANDcamp session (in slightly sped up form) and receive helpful suggestions. If you would like to present, please let me know right away through the comments. If nobody speaks up, I can offer up 10 Hardware Facts You Never Knew, shining a light on the often overlooked end of our toolchain.

The June meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday June 8th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.

This month we have Rich Yumul talking about mobile site building and design on Drupal 7. Rich will touch on some development tools and packages for Browser/Mobile Detection, and also some theming, analytics and extra tips and tricks for mobile. This should be a great talk that will highlight Drupal's Mobile functionality.

Next, we'll get into some lighting talks...

This months meeting will be a little bit different. The BPOC people are having fun with some of their other friends, so we're going to meetup at Digitaria's office downtown.
