What's your process for change management for migration of very large drupal installations?

Hello everyone,

I have been "messing" with drupal for a while now, and have now taken my first job as a 100% committed Drupal developer & tech lead for a company that builds massive websites for large federal initiatives that involve dense structures, complex role management schemes, and mountains of content (often 10,000+ nodes).

So, one of my first tasks as we get started is to work with the site building team and sys admins to create a solid process for performing migrations from dev >>> staging, sometimes staging >>> dev, and, of course, the eventual staging >>> production.

Updating Drush for Acquia Dev Desktop (DAMP)

Hi folks.

I'm having a bugger of a time trying to update the version of Drush that's bundled with Acquia Dev Desktop (DAMP). The bundled version is 4.0-rc3 and lots of commands seem a bit wonky (e.g. pm-update) or aren't found at all.

I've tried 'self-update' and 'selfupdate' but they're not found. I've tried downloading Drush and overwriting the Drush folder in the acquia-drupal directory but the version of Drush doesn't seem to change when I run 'status'.

Drush quickstart command line: create database with specific name

Hi Mike and all - first off thank you for Quickstart. It simplified things a lot and it was a great help.

I have a question on drush quickstart-create command line. I couldn't find any documentation on how to create a database with a name different from the domain name.

Example: domain name=example.dev database name=mydatabase1

Is this at all possible?

Thanks in advance

drush make with recursive makefiles

Ola malta,

Surely this exists ... compress selected Drupal modules into one file?

This isn't a module, ... but it's close (like Drush isn't a module). There are a lot of tools like Drush, for quickly configuring new Drupal installations. Surely, there is a tool for combining a set of modules into one downloadable file.

Then, for windows users (where I find myself sometimes) I suppose an alternative would be to access one of my Linux servers... run a Drush + shell script that does the same thing, and then transfer the resulting file from there.

If someone put this capability together in a Web page, it might be pretty useful. I bet someone already has. Does anyone know?

Getting drush to work on my MacBook Pro...

I had the pleasure of being introduced to drush at this past meetup, and wanted to provide some detail that might serve someone else.

I run a MacBook Pro, and MAMP as a local development server.

I followed Mike's recommendation of using a path alias to the actual drush directory, so that it would be accessible from Terminal:

I placed the uncompressed drush directory in:
/Users/ben/Applications/
and ran the alias script, following Mike's recommended course of action:

"3. (Optional, but recommended:) To ease the use of drush,

Introducción a drush y drush_make - Parte I

Using Drush properly as a totally blind Drupal user.

Hi folks, I'm the creater of a new podcast wich was recently developed, that primarily runs on Drupal, off of a Linode server here in the U.S since that's where I am, and for those of you thtat wish to check it out it's at
http://www.keithnet.us
Hope you all like it!
However, I'm a totally blind Drupal systems administrator, and that being said, chose Druapl7 alone, over Druapl6, as I do not care about the lack of modules.
From what I understand, Drupal 6 will begin to level off and stop being supported at some point once Drupal8 becomes reality.
So, hear is what I wanted to know.
