Clone and verify hang. anyway to debug?
I have created a site based on open atrium.
i can create an openatrium site based on the distribution through aegir
I add and configure modules to the created site.
When I clone the site,
1. backup created
2. vhost file created
3. database is created
4. i can access the site through the url
but the clone task never terminates
I also do not get a site entry in aegir
Is there a way to debug this? I don't get any entries from the backend provision anywhere? Is there a way that error messages can be written to the clone log once the provision-verify script is written?
Drush extras for secure and gzipped SQL dump
Hello,
I've just set up a github repo with a couple of drush extra commands for provinding secure and compressed SQL dumps.
The secure version uses openssl for encrypting the compressed dump. I thought this might be of use to someone, and who knows, the drush team can find it interesting enough to be included in the official release ;)
Thanks,
António
Documentation for writing drush commands
I am working on a site that does a lot of importing data from external sources, and I want to write some drush commands to do this. In looking around, I haven't been able to find any documentation for writing drush commands, such as the available hooks, format and return values for each hook, etc., other that looking at existing code. Once I get everything figured out I will write some documentation (either blog posts or handbook pages), but I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't need to (it's very possible I just didn't search well enough).

Before I add any bugs I need to ask you guys and gals if the results I'm getting are expected behaviour. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with PHP 5.3.2 and MySQL 5.1. Drush 3.3.
1st behaviour --sites-subdir:
drush dl drupal-7.x --drupal-project-rename=drupal
cd drupal && drush si standard --db-url=mysql://user:password@localhost:3306/drupal --sites-subdir=drupal.local
You are about to create a sites/drupa.local/files directory and create a sites/drupal.local/settings.php file and DROP your 'drupal' database and then CREATE a new one. Do you want to continue? (y/n): y

Just read a good post by Marcus from Guidelight Business Solutions on Enhancing Nagios to monitor Drupal using Drush commands. If you are using Drush, Nagios, or Drupal it is a very good techy read!

Hello,
For your coding pleasure, we present: Quickstart 0.8 (bittorrent link).
Quickstart is a downloadable virtual machine, containing a pre-configured Ubuntu Linux PHP development environment. Develop and debug LAMP natively, on any computer, without hassle.
QS 0.8 includes updates and bug fixes to QS 0.7. If you're already using QS 0.7, below is a script that will make the bug fixes.
QS 0.8 was also used to make the HOWTO videos on the Quickstart YouTube channel: step debugging, performance profiling, simple email debugging, etc.
What's next for the project? Not quite sure, but I'd love some feedback on how it's being used, and what features or HOWTO videos would be useful.
I hope you find it useful, and thanks for whatever you do for open source,
Mike

The Aegir project would like to present our 0.4 alpha 13 release. This release is primarily a bug fix release, fixing the site imports which have been causing issues with alpha 12.
New in this release is the ability to specify a makefile when you create a platform, which can be either a file on the hostmaster filesystem or a URL. Aegir will automatically build the platform from the specified makefile when it attempts to verify the path, and detects that it is not there.
Features:
#373062 : 0.4 - automate platform creation
Aegir 0.4 alpha 11 released
We are proud to announce the 0.4 Alpha 11 release of the Aegir Hosting System. The previous alpha release did not provide a suitable upgrade path for users who were already running alpha 9 and later. The only addition is the relevant fix to allow these users to safely upgrade their systems.
As before, this release requires you to use Drush 3.3.
