Silly Newbie Installation Mistakes and Ultimate Success with QuickStart

I am just 7 weeks into an intensive Drupal course (about 60 hours a week!); so my errors setting up QS are probably not the norm; though they may save others from repeating them.

The first step is to upgrade if you have less than 4GB of RAM. The virtual environment needs 1024MB (@1GB).

Installing OP no-care in Drupal 7.14?

Can someone please tell me how I install the OP no-core in a new installation of Drupal 7.14? The openpublish-7.x-1.0-alpha8-core seems to come with Drupal 7.12...

Or, which is the easiest to do installing the OP core and then upgrade to Drupal 7.14?

I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

Installing Openpublish Alpha3 on Acquia

I would like to create a test instance of OpenPublish Alpha3 on Acquia's hosting service, which is controlled by a dashboard that only offers the Drupal 6 version of OpenPublish. Pretty sure I do not have shell access with this account. It is possible to import an existing site, but that would mean first setting up, then presumably installing-over the vanilla version of Drupal 7. I was able to do this locally, but I'm concerned this might not go well remotely. Has anyone already tried this? I am asking here, because my understanding is that Phase2/OP works very closely with Acquia.

Openpublish on MAMP?

Hi there,

First, as I am a newbie, don't mind if my question seems to be basic. I am running a Drupal6x locally on my MAMP, with a Mac OS 10.3.9 (tiger). I don't have so much trouble with it, but I wanted to have also OpenPublish, which seems to fit more with my needs. No way : I just can't pass througt the first install stage, as if Open Publish would'nt accept a local installation. I get an "error" message, as if I were giving a wrong username or password, which is not the case (I'm using the same parameters as for Drupal, with just an openpublish_prefix, as told on the file).

Getting drush to work on my MacBook Pro...

I had the pleasure of being introduced to drush at this past meetup, and wanted to provide some detail that might serve someone else.

I run a MacBook Pro, and MAMP as a local development server.

I followed Mike's recommendation of using a path alias to the actual drush directory, so that it would be accessible from Terminal:

I placed the uncompressed drush directory in:
/Users/ben/Applications/
and ran the alias script, following Mike's recommended course of action:

"3. (Optional, but recommended:) To ease the use of drush,

Drupalinstallation på Debian Lenny kontra vanlig installation

Hej

Migrating between stacks : Acquia from/to XAMPP

I'm working with two stacks - Acquia on my desktop and XAMPP on my laptop. (And I'll be using LAMP at Modwest, my hosting service.)

My understanding is I should be able to move a completed SITE back and forth between these, but it is my responsibility to make sure the needed MODULES are in place across all of the installations. Is this correct?
