Absolute Link Footer Navigation module

The SEO guru that I work with is a stickler for having absolute links in the footer navigation. I am not an SEO person, so I cannot verify the validity of this. However, I have created a module that let's you choose a menu to display in a block and outputs the links as absolute links.

Is this something that I should contribute OR is there something that already does this OR does anyone even care about absolute links in footer navigation?

Thanks,
Tom Camp

How to structure my e-commerce site?

Im making a site selling tea. The default url structure would be;

mytea.com
(Home Page)

mytea.com/green
mytea.com/black
(Category Pages)

mytea.com/green/product1
mytea.com/green/product2
mytea.com/black/product3
mytea.com/black/product4
(Product Pages)

The Category Pages list about 10 teas. Each has an image and a paragraph of text.

Should I not use Product pages? All the information about each Product could be seen on it's Category Page. Presumably this will optimize for the Category terms or ‘black’ and ‘green’, more than the Product names?

Page Titles for Views, Panels, and non-node pages

I just wrote a module for Drupal 6.x that leverages the power of nodewords "custom pages" to set the Page Title using wildcard paths and tokens. Great for tough-to-reach page titles in Views, Panels, and other non-node paths!

http://drupal.org/project/nodewords_pagetitle

Let me know if this solves some real world problems. :-)

Peace,
Brian

Version 2 of Content Optimizer readying for release

We finally got version 2 of the Content Optimizer module release candidate ready and would appreciate any additional input. The purpose of the module is to help people audit their content for SEO statistics and provide best practices recommendations. Version 1 analyzed nodes during editing. V2 now has a modal interface thanks to Chaos Tools and adds the ability to analyze all Drupal pages including views and panels, free form content or any accessible web page on any website for that mater.

Header Tags

This post will discuss how to write a good header tag. As a general rule, you should have one <"h1"> tag, no more then a couple <"h2"> tags, and a spattering of <"h3"> tags

<

ol>

  • First things first; find out if the page has an <"h1"> tag
  • If you find out that there are too many <"h1"> tags, then do the following:
    1. Review the <"h1"> tags and determine which can be eliminated
    2. If you cannot eliminate enough <"h1"> tags, then rewrite them as an <"h2"> tag.

  • Make sure that the meta-description is under 154 characters including spaces

    Help! How to stop "backlinkers?"

Hi folks, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions because we're at the end of our rope! The web site I manage has been hit with a flood of new user registrations that are NOT people authentically trying to join our community. Since this started on October 1st, we have been getting approximately 10 new users per hour, 24-7. The IP addresses are almost always unique and the profile information is different each time, sometimes with spammy links, sometimes not.
