Simple admin aid module idea: Centrally set content type revision defaults

As for most of our sites we want to turn revisions on for all content types, a module (or D7 core patch) to do this from somewhere with a single switch (or checkboxes for all content types in one place) would be nice.

Questions:
* Is there already a module that does this, hiding from my searches?
* Should other per-content-type workflow settings also be centralized?
* Where should centralized settings like this live in the administration menu?

Workflow information in Panels

I searched for this kind of features, but haven't found any suitable solutions. There is need to display workflow state information and instructions at node page. Ofcourse, there is wonderful Rules module, and I could use it's "show system message" action. Hovewer I find using Rules with Panels is too embarassing: event "content is going to be viewed" is not fired at all, and "user is going to view page" has too few things to work with. To use Rules for this, one would have to use too many PHP, which I think is killing the purpose of Rules

Remove warning modal dialogs and replace them with undo

I think we can remove modal dialogs and replace it with a "undo" or trash system. Specially when you delete something (node, menu, bloc, etc).

They have a great article about that at listapart See http://www.alistapart.com/articles/neveruseawarning/

Gmail have this kind of undo and recently add "undo send" http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2009/03/new-in-labs-undo-send.html .

D7UX & Accessibility

There's been some really great work done looking at usability within Drupal - http://www.d7ux.org/

However, I do think that it is important to start talking about accessibility with any new visions of how content is going to be created and sites are going to be administered.

Initial focus should be auto focus

In discussing the question of inserting a tabindex to create an auto focus for certain pages (/user*, /node/add*, node/*/edit) so that the cursor is always sitting in the first field of the event in question, v suggested that this was more of a usability issue than an accessibility one. I recorded a friend with mobility challenges trying to create an account for those who want some understanding of how important this could be.

The Audience Matrix Evolves (and how you can play at home)

We've just added a new video to the YouTube Channel which we refer to in this post - check it out now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShBPEL_ckJw

Over the past week or so Mark and I have been working out the details that go on the panels of the Audience Matrix that we shared with you last week (http://www.disambiguity.com/understanding-our-audience-part-1-drupal7-ux...) (or dress-up-doll document as it has otherwise been named). We’ve made a few changes and added a bunch of definitions.

Here’s what we’ve come up with so far:

Usage statistics for options/features to improve usability

Hello all,
Drupal already has its own statistic system that grabs the number of installation that uses a determined module (here you can see an example: http://drupal.org/project/usage/blocks404).
There's more we can do to make statistics useful. It could be useful to understand the number of users are using a determined feature inside a module, and how are they using this.

Examples:
