Supporting Touchscreens/Mobile Devices for Location and Mapping Projects
I'm interested in hearing how people are using Drupal to support mobile devices/touchscreens for location and mapping projects. I see two ways one would approach this:
1) Build an app that runs natively on the platform that interfaces with Drupal through a REST interface (Sounds like Heyrocker (Services module) is pushing for the Butler project http://buytaert.net/drupal-in-a-tablet-world)
2) Build support for mobile devices/touchscreen devices into the javascript libraries we are using to display maps to browsers.
3) Other suggestions? :)

Hello fellow West Michiganders!
I have been working with Drupal for a few years now (more as a hobby than anything else) including developing TulipTime.com and WhtsUpHolland.com. TulipTime.com is getting a redesign in the near future and WhatsUpHolland.com I built just to see what I could do with views, gmaps, and other modules.
Recently I also created a couple apps to help people who are new to Drupal. You can read more about the apps at Noteboomproductions.com.
Being that this group is local to me, I thought I'd pass on some free codes for these apps as first come, first serve.

I just joined an am looking forward to the discussions here in the group, but was curious to see if anyone is planning to go to the iOS Development Camp in San Jose this weekend? I'm looking to network and perhaps even build a team around an idea that I have for an app for freedivers. If anyone is headed to SJ this weekend hit me up.

This is intended to be an initial set of resources for those looking at getting started in this exciting area of drupal/mobile app development.
These resources are largely the work of Sumit Kataria of Civic Actions and my interest and excitement stem from this awesome presentation at Drupalcon SF2010 http://sf2010.drupal.org/conference/sessions/developing-apps-iphoneipada...
The presentation is broken down a little further with some provided code samples and an adjusted json server module.

I'm writing an iPhone app that accesses my Drupal 6 Services remotely.
I'm using the Cocoa XML-RPC Framework and no matter how I send the arguments to my Drupal site, it returns with "Missing Required Arguments" Fault Error.
I'm using sessions and not keys, and the system.connect method works perfectly and gives me a session Id. But when I try and run any other method that uses arguments it faults...

I just released a module that extends the REST server with support for both binary and xml based plists: http://drupal.org/project/rest_server_plist. This allows you to talk with services on the iPhone without any external dependencies on json parsers or having to interpret xml responses.

I have two issues I am hoping someone can assist with.
Running Drupal 6.16, services 6.x-2.0, json server 6.x-2.0-alpha1.
Have API disabled, sessid enabled.
Can connect, login and retrieve/parse views and nodes with node.get and views.get.
but have no luck with file.save and node.save.
example file.save = method="node.save"&sessid="aeufrgi2kk1tm1ra8rfacg9et5"&node="{"uid":"5","title":"newcontent","type":"mytype","name":"testuser","body":""}"
the user can create content via the web site with these values, but via the services call they get:
{
"#error" = 1;
I'll be in town...
I am heading up to delaware / Phily last week of March, and wanted to see if there was anyone interested in meeting up. I am living in Miami at the moment, but probably moving to Baltimore or Delaware, and would like to network with more DRUPAL and iPhone developers. If someone wants to drop me a line, please do.
