Aegir 0.4 alpha 11 released

We are proud to announce the 0.4 Alpha 11 release of the Aegir Hosting System. The previous alpha release did not provide a suitable upgrade path for users who were already running alpha 9 and later. The only addition is the relevant fix to allow these users to safely upgrade their systems.

As before, this release requires you to use Drush 3.3.

We are proud to announce the 0.4 Alpha 10 release of the Aegir Hosting System. This release contains several important bugfixes found in alpha 9. There were also a number of problems found in Drush 3.1 and Drush 3.2, which required a release of Drush 3.3 to be made to support this release.

Aegir 0.4 alpha 9 released

We are proud to announce the 0.4 Alpha 9 release of the Aegir Hosting System. This release introduces our 'multi-server' functionality, which mostly resolves the primary goal for the 0.4 release cycle.

UPDATED: critical errors found in this release:

#875192 PHP.net switched to subversion from CVS, breaking Drush. We need to roll a new release of drush.
#874716 Files directories on remote web servers are being deleted on rsync. DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE ON PRODUCTION SITES YET!

Drupal Hosting Cookbook

Hi to all Drupallers I knew in Vancouver

I've moved out to Toronto now but I've started using Drupal again. One of the guys I've met out here has just written a guide to setting up a Drupal 7 (yes, adventurous) host from scratch since his company has just been through the process. I found it helpful anyway and thought you guys might as well.

OpenPublish and pecl

Just a couple things.

  1. Installing OP on Dreamhost.

In the past couple days I've been working on my site at DH. I thought it would be a big problem installing it based on comments I have read. However, since I just upgraded to a PS account there I decided to try it fresh with OP 2.0. Result? First time, and quick. What a comparison with installing it on my home computer. I had to keep upping the time out times. Anyway, it does work on PS at Dreamhost just fine so far.

Info on NoBMoB and Global Riders

Hi,

Following some discussion about the IMBA site move to Drupal where I brought this up, am posting here so more people can learn about this.

I'm hoping this won't be misconstrued as spam because it's partly about a site I built for an MTB group on Drupal, and partly about how this grew into a hosted application service where we are now offering the same model to other groups, clubs, etc.

You could either learn from this and go on to build you own site, or perhaps ask about joining the service.

Performance problems

Hi,

I currently operate 1 international D6 site (traffic even from US and EU) with apx 100.000 nodes and 150.000 users. I am having huge load problems and my host does not seem to have the required drupal knowhow to make it work. The site is suffering badly. In one month from now I will be launching a new smaller site for a danish audience on the different subject, but also D6.
