How about having a newbie self learning group ... we can start with Drupal Commerce...
Hi All,
How about having a group of newbies meeting once a week to learn about one module / profile / feature at a time...
I was thinking Drupal Commerce would be a good idea to start with... good videos tuts and admin guides are available online as well... we could also do some screencasts from the newbie perspective... and extend the contribution of our SEADUG community to the larger Drupal community...

Hi Jake,
I'm looking forward to my first DrupalCon and to meeting you in London.
I'm faced with a dilema though. Your session clashes with the one for Drupal Commerce, which I am also keen to attend.
Having spent the last six months working closely with Omega, I'm inclined to go to the Commerce session, but in doing so will miss your words on 'mobile first' and Omega Tools, about which I'm keen to learn more.
Read moreUbercart and PayPal
Hey fellow Drupalers -
I have a quick question on using PayPal with Ubercart (or Drupal Commerce):
- I have both Drupal 6 sites (Ubercart) and Drupal 7 (Ubercart or Drupal Commerce) sites that need shopping cart integration
- Do I need to have the PayPal $30 a month merchant account to integrate using the API? Or can I integrate with the "free" PayPal account?
- Are any of you using PayPal currently with UC/DC and can you provide me your feedback as to how well it works? (as opposed to Google Checkout, etc.)
Thanks, all!

Options for a Drupal 7 based music store
I have a current music store that I would like to migrate to Drupal 7. Would Ubercart be the best solution? I am currently receiving audio directly from digital distributor via FTP with an XML file included in the folder of audio files. What would be the best way to integrate the meta data from the XML file to fill the album, artist, track, label, etc in the music store as well as the audio as file downloads (zip) and audio previews for each track.

Read moreBig News - Google officially announces support for Good Relations RDFa markup
This news came a few days ago... Google is officially supporting the Good Relations (e-commerce) ontology as a source for Rich Snippets.
This means that once we have a good mapping for it in Drupal Commerce, sites that use Drupal for commerce will be at a distinct advantage. Yahoo research showed that click through rates for rich snippety search results were 15% higher, and other research has shown up to 30% higher.
Read moreIs Ecommerce 4.0 for Drupal 6 ever to be released?
With Drupal 7 around the corner, there is still no final release of Ecommerce for Drupal 6 available. I see we've arrived at Release Candidate 22 (seriously, RC22?!) after some 2 years of development.
Is it time to realize that Ecommerce for Drupal 6 will never appear due to the lack of developers?
Wouldn't it be wise to discontinue the Ecommerce project all together and shift focus to Ubercart or Drupal Commerce?
Read moreDrupal Commerce Usability: Bulk Product Creation / Import Tools
Overview: Drupal Commerce is a fresh implementation of the Ubercart feature set on Drupal 7 using fieldable entities to the max and depending on Views and Rules. What a product is has been separated from how a product is displayed (see this thread for more details), and the attributes system has been completely redone to work through fields on product types and enforce unique SKUs for every variation of a product. While greatly improving the underlying data model, this adds to the complexity of listing products for sale, especially when closely related products need to be sold through the same display (i.e. multiple sizes of a particular t-shirt style). This project will take advantage of the field settings for fields on product types and Token patterns to create bulk product generation forms and enhancements to the Product Reference field and its Add to Cart form display formatters to present these products for sale.
Read moreDealing with VAT
During Drupalcon Szeged, we spent a lot of time talking about how to handle VAT. Unfortunately I have only a slightly better idea of VAT today as I did before I left for DrupalCon. I would like some input from people in the community who work with VAT on a daily basis.
I'd like to try and answer the following.
- What is VAT
- How does it work
- How should VAT be handled by ecommerce companies inside and outside Europe
Using this information we should be able to support VAT with Drupals commerce systems.
Read moreA better group description
@ DrupalCon Szeged we decided to create a group for general drupal commerce questions, help, and planning. Alex UA and myself will be co-maintaining the group, however we want this group to be very community led.
I thought a good place to start would be coming up with a better description than the current "A common, impartial place to discuss Drupal related commerce."
What are your thoughts?
