Hello all.

Is it possible just to add a map to a user page?

Even after 2 years of struggling, I still feel like a newbie, as I say in all my posts, and I have been trying for myself for some weeks now (few spare hours a week) and I am about to give up on this AND on Drupal.
How come it is not possible to find a step by step explanation or even any reference to something essential and apparently simple like this?
For the moment I have the impression that users dispose of a map only for INPUT but NOT for OUTPUT????

EveryBlock (now launched in Chicago) just blogged about the technology they used to create their own mapping platform (not using Google or Yahoo maps). It's missing a few details no doubt, but in addition to the already open components listed here, EveryBlock (funded by the Knight Foundation, which is also making significant investments in Drupal) will ultimately make the complete recipe available. I want people like you to explain me process I want to start,

I want my user users to register and enter my web. (no problem).

Then I want them let insert an announcement into my web and let them insert into a general web map direct with mouse the announcement location.

When the add ins introduced and confirmed, a flag opens side to the marker announcement and pressing it opens a web page for the announcement.

I would aprecciate too links, tutorials and all kind of information.

I created a custom cck field that shows links to mapping sites. It can be used with content types that have a physical address. The widget is just a checkbox, that tells if mapping links should be shown or not for this particular node.

I am definitely doing something wrong because the value of this checkbox is not saved or loaded properly from the database.

You might be interested in checking out mapthing. It is a simple module for creating google maps and mapping data points on them. I've abstracted out the data interface and there is a "plug-in" for CiviCRM data (please note that right now the CiviCRM module references are hard coded :( ). I got inspiration (and code :) ) from webgeer's cool GMap module. It's in contribs. Comments welcome.
