I have just given a presentation today to the Berkeley Drupal Users Group

and have proposed a similar presentation for the DrupalCamp at Stanford

Aegir migrated away from Drupal.org more than a year ago because it needed git magic to do proper maintenance of its code (but also wanted to merge the modules in the install profile to simplify maintenance). Now that Drupal.org is migrating to git (yaaaay! thank you!), we're reconsidering that decision, and have opened the discussions on our forum to see if that would be a good idea: http://community.aegirproject.org/node/369

My main questions to you guys are those two:

I have created a site based on open atrium.
i can create an openatrium site based on the distribution through aegir
I add and configure modules to the created site.

When I clone the site,
1. backup created
2. vhost file created
3. database is created
4. i can access the site through the url

but the clone task never terminates
I also do not get a site entry in aegir
Is there a way to debug this? I don't get any entries from the backend provision anywhere? Is there a way that error messages can be written to the clone log once the provision-verify script is written?

Aegir 0.4 Alpha15 released

The Aegir project is pleased to announce our 0.4 alpha 15 release. This release is primarily a bug fix release, which aims to tie off a huge amount of outstanding bugs and other tasks.

We did aim to release beta1 but decided that there were a few critical bugs still lingering that we wouldn't want to overshadow in such a momentous release. Instead we've chosen to push out one last alpha before (finally) heading out into beta and RC stages of the 0.4 cycle.

Hi,

Aegir task cron runs as expected.

But individual site crons are not running.

I looked at my setup under hosting >queues

while my takss queue runs as expected my cron queue has not run for several weeks.
How can I force this to happen?

I tried per troubleshooting instructions to reset cron:

I'm using Aegir & Nginx combination (through omega8cc's great barracuda install scripts), and everything is fine and dandy.

However, when using Boost, I can get every page to cache correctly except for the homepage or a site.

The Boost rules are set to allow it, and I can see in the cache directory that the file is getting saved as it should (it becomes _.html).

Is it possible to integrate some domain registration service into aegir?
I found this module which may help. http://drupal.org/project/registrar_api

Usecase:

1)Client comes to the site, searches for domain name, If available adds the domain name to cart via ubercart module
2)Client will browse for hosting packages, selects one and adds to cart
3)proceeds to checkout
4)drupal site will be created at chosen domain name and email will be sent with access details

Are tools available to add modules to a platform by the (aegir) userinterface?

su -s /bin/sh aegir -c "~/drush/drush dl @platform_xxx cck views nl blablabla" is not very state of the art.

Best would be a provisioning task. I'm sure that I'm not the first having this wish.

Hi,

I updated the codebase of a platform to enable an alternative language (drush @platform_xxx dl nl)
But the language does not appear in the aegir (admin) user interface at "add a site".

I tried to run provision-verify, but that did not solve the problem.
How can I make it recognize the new installation profile?

This is actually a follow up to a previous post.
I am trying to use BARACUDA on a VPS from Burst.net
the domain is: 33cloud.com
I am starting from a plain vanila Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit system
The only thing I am doing is adding

apt-get install nano
apt-get install git-core git-gui git-doc
git clone http://github.com/omega8cc/nginx-for-drupal.git

I am able to ping 33cloud.info server.33cloud.info aegir.33cloud.info
I set the hostname to 33cloud.info

the only think I am doing to the installation script is changing the email address.
