Going to DrupalCon Copenhagen?
Is anyone from Australia going to DrupalCon Copenhagen? I'm going and it would be good to meet up with others from around the country. Maybe we can meet up for a beer/dinner during the conference.

I am looking to start up a website more tailored towards Drupal Meet Ups. I currently have most of the base functionality ready to go and about 40% of the theme created but am just curious to see if anyone would find this useful?
I know G.D.O has an events functionality but this site looks to be more tailored just for events and will add in other features that may be useful.
Please let me know your thoughts.
BTW: I tried creating this with my existing D.O account (triversedesigns) but it kept bringing up the spam filter warning and would not let me post to anything. Weird.

Great news! DrupalDownunder have State Reps!
The idea is that each of the State Reps will be able to keep each of you more in the loop with what's happening in regards to DrupalDownunder 2011.
Specifically their role is to:
— keep you up-to-date with news regarding DDU (particularly at your local Meet-ups)
— encouraging/recommending presenters to submit a topic for presenting at DrupalDownunder
— contact/recommend any potential sponsors in each State
— become part of a national team that will continue to offer the same support for future events
LCA2011 call for papers (Brisbane)
The linux.conf.au 2011 organisers now welcome proposals of papers from
all areas of the open source community. linux.conf.au is a fun,
informal, seriously technical conference. In 2011 it will also cater
to a range of end users including those new to the open source
community.
"We're excited to be carrying on the proud tradition of linux.conf.au
in our home city of Brisbane." said Shaun Nykvist, director of
lca2011. "We're mindful of the important role that this conference
plays in the F/OSS community both here in Australia and
In Trouble - Drupal on Windows 2003 server and IIS
Hi
I am running drupal version 5 on a windows 2003 server with IIS.
All of a sudden my websites are not working.
Originally I had to play with the listening ports on IIS and Apache and as IIS had to listen on port 80 I have set apache to listen on port 8888 using virtual hosts.
I used IIS to redirect the incoming requests on port 80 to port 8888
It was working fine for nearly two years and now all of a sudden it has stopped working. IIS somehow got corrupted and I had to reinstall it and set up the site again with the redirection but I can't get the drupal sites to come up.
Read moreLarge library of Drupal books going cheap!
Hi Aussie Drupalers,
I have a collection of new Drupal books (almost $1000 worth) which I'd been planning to leave behind at a large Drupal project but unfortunately that plan fell through. Now my wife is reclaiming shelf space for baby books so, sadly, I need to let them go. This is your chance to expand your Drupal book collection cheaply (especially if you're in Sydney and can pick up your purchases)! There is a book in the collection for nearly every Drupal topic and for every experience level and many of them are highly specialised and quite interesting. They are all shiny new Drupal 6 books (a few cover bits of 7 as well) and based on my past few years' experience with Drupal I'd say they are likely to continue to be useful and valuable for several years to come.
The books are:

That's a whole lot of trumpets! Better open the windows.
Finding Drupal Developers for your project
There's a lot of interest in Freelance Drupal Developers right now as the market place embraces the technology. You could say there's an explosion of interest and limited resources.
I'm currently receiving a couple of requests per day for quotes. Some of these expressions of interest look very appealing, offering good working conditions, rates and are high profile projects. Some requests for quotes are hard to distinguish from spam, being emails with no salutations or no project details and are sent from hotmail addresses or the like that look slightly suspicious.
