Getting Drupal Curriculum into 2,000 high schools in 24 months

I have a goal to get a full semester long Drupal based website design curriculum into 2,000 high schools in the next 24 months. To do this I really need some help from others in the Drupal community.

We launched a KickStarter campaign that will allow us to build a full semester long, high school level website design/development course using Drupal. This will also allow us to offer the course and teacher training at no cost to the school. We only have about a week until it’s over and need some help.

What does open sourcing curriculum actually look like?

But what does it mean exactly to make curriculum open source? Is it as simple as providing a link to download the resources I use to teach the class (such as Drupalize.me's Community Tools curriculum)? Do I need to decide between a particular open source license (GPL, MIT, etc) and create rules for fair use?

Maybe someone can point me to a prior discussion or article around this topic?

Thanks!

What are the steps or best practices for open sourcing curriculum?

I've realized from the discussion regarding TCDrupal sponsorship of events, there is enough of a critical mass for me to decide that open sourcing the curriculum for Enjoy Drupal: Site Building Basics is the way to go. I've been telling folks informally that I'm happy to share it so long as they don't charge for the event, so why not make it "official"?

Are you an educator teaching Drupal at college level? Do you know an educator who'd like to teach Drupal?

I'm trying to reach educators who are teaching Drupal as subject matter at college level.

Cross-posting in a few places where it may not be directly related, but we too often focus on Drupal as an LMS, etc without attracting educators who could teach Drupal.

ThinkDrop and MACILE Collaborate on creating Internet Technology Curriculum for Kids

Only local images are allowed.

We are proud to announce that Kickstarter has accepted our recent proposal for a Pilot Program to introduce open-source technology and Drupal to children living in less-advantaged communities, helping them overcome the hurdles that prevent them from openly accessing and sharing information.

We are developing this Pilot Program in conjunction with MACILE (Math Science Language Engineering), a COSOLA educational program focused on improving the quality of primary education in impoverished communities. COSOLA is an independent multidisciplinary, collaborative research lab that connects business leaders, government agencies, and NGOs to existing research and invites them to be part of the solution. MACILE has successfully implemented innovative education programs by using active teaching methods, collaborating with American universities and utilizing available local resources.

In July, we will travel to Itabo, Dominican Republic to teach a two-week class to 6th-12th graders and educators. We are seeking $8,000 in funding through Kickstarter, an innovative website that allows users to fund creative endeavors. The funds we are seeking will pay for full-time coding and project development, travel and housing expenses in the Dominican Republic, and additional computers for educators and students.

Designing a 'Git 101' class

Hello Git Migration Team.
I am interested in sharing plans to teach Git.

In the beginning of July, I will be teaching a Git class to students participating in a summer Drupal learning project.

This is my plan for preparing the class:
1. Personally get more up to speed with Git. I use Git already, but want to read both Git books (the O'reilly one & also the Apress book) Both are mentioned on the Drupal Git resources handbook page.

Some possible characteristics of a successful/useful open curriculum

I'm reposting this here from http://drupalkata.com/curriculum/node/466 at Gus Austin's request.

Inspired by the IRC discussion on 3 May, here are some notes on criteria by which we could judge the success of a curriculum design project. Sorry, it's all very sketchy and provisional but perhaps can serve as some sort of contribution to the discussion.

A useful/good curriculum will have the following properties (sort of a unit test for the curriculum):

Drupal Kata (our homegrown project learning program) is taking shape

Hi there -

Just to follow up for those who aren't already aware/involved (most of you), the Drupal Kata (http://drupalkata.com/) is up and running and we're starting to generate a bit of interest. That said, we're still very much in need of leaders, mentors, advisers, and apprentices in the areas of project/sprint/task management, education, business, and marketing. Developers, designers, themers, are obviously pretty key, but it helps when there are people to provide guidance.

These may be good points of entry -
