HUNDREDS of spammers signing up to Conributed Module Status group!
On Monday, 7/16/07 when I glanced at the number of subscribers to the <a href="http://groups.drupal.org/contributed-module-status>Contributed Module Status group, it stood somewhere around 950.
To my surprise, Wednesday morning it had ballooned to 1259. Suspecting something was wrong, I checked the list of subscribers and spotted the problem right away. Spammers. Damn them!
Read moreIs there a way to see all the taxo terms of a group?
I've been trying to find a way to coax a listing of all taxonomy terms for g.d.o groups. Thus far, it has been in vain. Do any of you know how this might be achieved without writing a module, or patching core? The top-10 list at the right side of a group is just not enough info for a group admin to keep things streamlined and organized.
Ideas? Sogg-gestions?

Might this be a help? http://drupal.org/node/16489

In the group details block in upper right, there is now a search box which initiates a full text search of content within the group. this is a nice feature, and a long time coming. i am using the views_search filter in Views along with og specific argument to achieve this. og now comes with this feature in 5.x version.

I made a couple of minor changes to TOC module and installed it on this site. This module automatically injects a table of contents block into your node when you author using properly section your post using header tags (i.e. h3, h4, etc). For an example, see the about page. This module works nicely with markdown syntax, which makes it easy to author structured documents like this.

I installed the freelinking module which lets users link to other pages that might or might not exist. I disabled the CamelCase feature of that module so you have to use the double brackets. See the help underneath input formats in order to learn more about the syntax.
Please keep you eyes open for formatting/filtering irregularities.

I am getting very close to satisfied with the Drupal 5 version of this site. Folks are welcome to browse a recent snapshot at http://groupsbeta.drupal.org. Feel free to post and delete content. No emails will be generated.
Please post your bug reports in this thread. There are a couple of known minor glitches, like authenticated rss feeds, missing rss icons, and missing help text at top pf a few pages. ignup module has been dropped for now since it doesn't have a D5 branch.
One nice benefit for editors is that you may now post into any group without being a subscriber there.

Moshe - can you comment on allowing anonymous comments?
My preference is to know who everybody is when they post, but I'd like to hear your ideas on the subject.
Read moreGroup specific vocabularies introduced
I'm pretty excited that I finally deployed the og_vocab module on this site. This enables each group to maintain its own classification system for its posts. It also offers a handy block called 'Group categories' which helps subscribers navigate by taxonomy term.
You can see the block on the right hand side of any group page if that group has actually created and used a group specific vocabulary. Also, notice that the display of terms at bottom of each post is now grouped by vocabulary. For an example of both of these changes, see http://groups.drupal.org/node/192.
In order to create a group specific vocabulary, you must be an admin of a group or a sitewide editor. If you qualify, you will see a new categories tab on the group home page which helps add/edit.
