GSoC Project Idea: Encrypted RSS/Atom Feeds

Added to official ideas list at http://drupal.org/node/237628

Overview: With Encrypted RSS/Atom feeds, buddylist-like features become possible cross-site. The project would be to develop a module which generates and consumes syndicated feeds, where reading them in only possible behind a login.

How about a Social Networking BOF (and master strategy session) at DrupalCon2008 Boston?

I am very interested in the state of Social Networking direction for Drupal.
I would also be interested in writing/contributing modules if I knew how they would all fit together.

I propose a Bird-of-a-Feather (BOF) meeting on Social Networking in Drupal at DrupalCon2008 in Boston.

We can get to know all of the people working on Social Networking stuff for Drupal and create a coordinated
plan for making Drupal a top-notch Social Networking platform. (If this plan already exists, please fill me in on it.)

What do you think?

How is this done ?

Just require a small help. I have seen many social networking sites like linkedin.com ask you to invite your friends to join and they just need you to login to google, yahoo or msn through a small box on their site. When you login an email is automatically sent to all your address book members inviting them to join. How does this work ?

Is there any module or api integration available for drupal social networking sites.

Personalization and message feeds

While Drupal already has many of the tools necessary to implement social networking techniques on a community site, I haven't found anything that works like the personalized central "News Feed" system in Facebook or Twitter.

I'm curious whether anyone has done any development work, planning or merely thinking about how this might be done in Drupal, and about the implications.

Toward an Open Social Network Powered by Free Software

Breaking Open Facebook with Open Source Software (Part 2)

it’s important for socially aware software developers to begin thinking about how to provide alternative services to proprietary social networks. While I acknowledge this is a very high level description scarce on implementation details, I hope that it spurs some spirited discussions and future innovation.

Block user on a per-user basis? Surprised that I can't seem to find any projects for this

There are modules and projects to allow users to give access to various pieces of content, or to create buddylists.

There do not seem to be any solutions for allowing users to place other users who offend them on a "blocked" list.

What would be really nice is a way for users to add people to a blocked list, so that modules could be configured to, for instance:

  • prevent users from sending private messages to people who have blocked them
  • prevent users from seeing profiles or nodeprofiles of people who have blocked them

Malaysianspace.com - a good idea, now gone; Proposal for Malaysian/SouthEastAsian Friendster Facebook MySpace

Wow long title and long list of tags :)

I checked out MalaysianSpace.com today and it was not renewed; it was owned by MENJ and it used the `Handshake' SNS software.

Whereas MuslimSpace.com uses the PHP-Fox software

Cyworld is advanced SNS (you can try the English version http://us.cyworld.com)

Habbo Hotel, Gaia Online, are for younger teens and kids

Cyworld/Habbo/Gaia earn money by `micro transactions' - kids pay around 30 cents - these SNS earned millions in profits

My proposal is:

Poker Social Networking website using drupal

We'd like to let you know about our web site: http://www.k9poker.com - It
is a social network of poker players. The name "K9Poker" is inspired by
the famous "Dogs Playing Poker" painting by Calvin Coolidge. We think
poker is such a social game that a networking web site dedicated to it is
a perfect fit. On K9Poker, a player can create a personalized poker
profile, establish a network of poker friends, and search for poker home
games and tournaments in their area. We'd appreciate if you take a look at and review our web site.
