I want to thank JC for hosting us all last year (and I think a little more). It's been very helpful and I personally am very appreciative of his contribution to our local group. Thanks JC!

CentralPoint Systems has volunteered to host us this month. We'll meet at the usual time, 7pm and if any one is interested we could probably have an "after party" at Fiddlers Elbow (just for you Arthur).

2012-12-13 19:00 - 20:30 America/Denver
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

Time again for a DUG meetup in Salt Lake. We will be holding it at the Walker Center on the North East corner of 200 S and Main St. Signs will be placed to direct you on how to get up to the conference room where we will be (usually by calling to have someone come let you in). The entrance is on the West side of the building off of Main Street. If you are there at 7:00pm we usually wait for a few minutes for people to show up before we enter. Note that the doors are locked and most people around the building will not know about a meeting.

Ubercart External links

From what I can see to allow external links on a drupal ubercart site you need to upload a external link module. I have uploaded a module and when I go into my module list it is nowhere to be found. Can some one tell me if I am going about this the wrong way. Is there a way to do this without a module? Which is the best module to be used for this? I have found a couple.

ADA Compliance Audit

I was curious if anyone was aware of a good, trustworthy company that does ADA compliance audits. We are rolling out a whole lot of changes to our site and would like to go through a formal process of having compliance reviewed. I figure there has to be people out there but wanted to check with all of you first.

Is it possible to put the logo and menu in a block?

I am trying to get the logo and menu for my website in a block. That way I can make it disappear on certain pages. I am using Drupal 7 with a theme called "Professional Theme"

Has anyone had any luck with this? Here is what I tried to put in the block with no apparent effect. This is basically the php from the actual page.tpl.php with an added settings reference. I saved it in a block in the php format.

<?php
$settings = theme_get_setting('professional_theme');

So, for module developers out there. Why do you decide to use an existing permission instead of creating one that is custom to your module?

Preferred IDE

Thank you for letting me lurk on this list for the past year.

I do most of my work in Vim, but use Eclipse plus XDebug when I need to step through code. Unfortunately, I find it to be very fragile. XDebug doesn't like symlinks, and Eclipse's ability to stop at breakpoints disappears if I update anything in my toolchain. I recently broke my environment again, and haven't figured out how to get it functional.

What better options are there?

From the reviews I have read, the Zend debugger doesn't appear any more reliable. Do any of you use it?

Is Netbeans more dependable?

Monthly DUG Meetings for SLC and Provo areas

Coming up soon we have another DUG meeting. As usual, it's planned for the 2nd Thursday of the month. At Drupal Camp Utah I mentioned some things about changing it up: trying to include more people, finding a different location, etc... it always difficult to accommodate everyone, and we won't be able to make everyone happy... but, I feel like this will be a good compromise.

Not calling proper stylesheets, any ideas?

Happy Friday, everyone!
Well, I finally got approval to put up my first Drupal site, but when the domain is redirected at it, the colors go wacky.

I built the site using the Pixture Reloaded theme at: http://poppy.med.utah.edu/cc/

When I view it here, on-campus, using the above URL, it renders in shades of lavender/pink (see 1st attachment).

But when I view it by going in from the correct IP address that the domain name will soon be redirected to, it breaks the CSS (see 2nd attachment). The IP address is http://155.100.78.190/

Full name instead of username

Is there any way to force blog posts, articles and other content types to display the full name of an authenticated user instead of their username? How do I display their full name even if I cannot remove the username? Can the full name be made a link to the user profile?

Thanks in advance!
Todd V

Using "Front page" view: private vs public content

All:
I am attempting to use the "Front page" view to filter for public/private content. I created a taxonomy called "Visibility", with two terms: "public" and "private". I've added this to the "Article" content type. I want articles labeled "private" only to show up for authenticated users.

I enabled the "Front page" view, and adjusted the following settings:

  • Under "Filter Criteria," added "Content: Visibility (<> Private)" and set it to "This page (override)".
  • Page settings > Access > Role > anonymous user
