Florida Drupal Site Owner Needs Assistance
Howdy. I have a site called www.flurbex.com that was made by someone I dont know. I met them online from another site and they offered to make my entire site for free, which he did. However, I dont know what he did and even if my site needs tuning or updates etc.. I was hoping someone could join my site (free) and tell me what they thought of it. Thank you for your time.
Read moreManaging ungodly amount of CCK fields/permissions
I am building a site that will be a directory -- think yellow pages. So there will be tons of CCK fields, and content types to boot.
There will be quite a few categories (each a content type) with several CCK fields each. Pretty much need CCK Permissions enabled.
But, I am dreading paging through hundreds of user permissions and, worse, scrolling through a mess of fields when building the many Views.
Wondering if anyone has stumbled upon any other tools for making this management easier.
Read moreModules List
I am looking at the Modules list on the CFCS site and it has a menu & filter on it.
How was that done? All of my other test sites (also Drupal 7) don’t have the filter or the menu list on the left.
Thanks.

Would like to display the join groups as select list (single select fine) rather than checkboxes. Ideas?
Google produced one other post requesting same (in OG issues), but no replies.

Drupal 7 Core Fields vs. CCK (Looking for advice on a link field)
I'm working on a site in D7 and I want to have a link field. In D6 I used the Link project which requires CCK. They have a D7 version but when I got to the CCK project they said that everything as moved to core or separate projects (except for certain cases).
So do I use CCK and the Link project in D7 or do I have to create my own link field using the D7 field api?

After helping out in this year's Florida Drupalcamp, I began to wonder if there was a better way to get a working Drupal installation on attendees computers. With the wide variety of operating systems and configurations and the often unreliable wifi situations, why not package a live cd that users can boot to with everything they need?
I had just updated Crunchbang Statler and noticed a very handy install script that basically added a LAMP environment along with git and a few other things.

Gainesville April Meetup - Coding for a Cause
This is a reminder that the Gainesville Meetup will be this Thursday, April 7th at the Alachua County Library District Headquarters in the Foundation Room. This month we will be working on Coding for a Cause webpage for CFCS. Please bring any reference material, computer and enthusiasm. Great opportunity for newbies to get hands on experience. A little theming, a little content type development and more. Follow the development process of the combined experience levels of the group. The new site is on Drupal 7 and uses OG, custom content types and a custom theme.

The 8th meetup for the Tampa Bay Drupal users group is next Thursday, April 7th @ 6pm.
For this next meetup, we had planned on having a presentation on the Views module, which was to be given by myself. A week or so ago ultimike put out a call for the local Florida Drupal groups to help wrap up the "Coding for a Cause" event that was started at the last FL DrupalCamp. Some of the Tampa group members decided we'd like to help with that, so we've volunteered our collective resources to help out during our next meetup.

Hello,
We are in the early planning stages for Drupalcamp Atlanta 2011 and wanted to throw Saturday, October 8th out as a potential date.
Does anyone know if this conflicts with any other Drupal/OSS events or major happenings in the Atlanta area? I know Do it With Drupal and the Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit are scheduled for the following week.
Finally, interested in volunteering? We will begin to tee up committee meetings soon. If you would like to help out please reach out to me at dave dot terry at mediacurrent dot com
Cheers,

Coding for a Cause April
Coding for a Cause April is on! Thanks to the excellent response from user groups around the states to my initial posting, we have had six user groups around the state step up and volunteer to help out.
This past weekend, during the Orlando meetup, we worked with Hewie and Shelia from CFCS to divide up most of the remaining tasks in order to launch the new CFCS.org site on Drupal 7. I've sent emails to all the user groups who responded with all the details.

New Mobile Site for GatorTailgating.com!
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of rolling out my first Drupal mobile site! After listening to Drupal founder Dries Buytaert talk about the mobile web taking over, I lit a fire under myself to get this done.

Dries' Presentation Slide
Luckily, I discovered it’s easy as pie in Drupal:
The modules that I had to install to get it functioning well are collapsiblock, menu block, and mobile tools.
- Collapsiblock is just what it sounds like. It enables javascript collapsible blocks. You set defaults on if the block is collapsed by default, always collapsed, or collapsible.
- Menu Block enables you to take a certain subsection of your Drupal menu system, and display it in a block.
- Finally, Mobile Tools does the grunt work, and detects mobile devices. If it finds a mobile device user-agent, it redirects them to m.gatortailgating.com, and also switches the theme to your mobile them.
The final amount of work was just straight up D6 theming. I created a copy of the custom GatorTailgating.com theme, and modified the page.tpl.php and associated CSS files.
The final time it took to put this together was something around 6 hours… which to me is pretty amazing. It really speaks to Drupal’s power. Check it out on your IPhone, Droid or (hopefully not..) Blackberry!
PS. For all you Gator Drupaler's out there. We're having a huge Orange & Blue Game tailgate. Stop by and I'll throw you some free food & beer!
