Bulk or Mass emailing with drupal
Drupalbanians,
Can anyone recommend a module for bulk emailing from drupal? I'm looking at Views Send but there are many other choices. Has anyone on the list used Views Send? Do you have another favorite?
Thanks,
Maury
Development Environments
Thought I'd help migrate the discussion on dev environments from the other thread to here. Feel free to repost, I'd hate for anything to get lost in the ether!

Hi all,
I need some assistance here with more of a best practice question regarding the omega theme. With other themes I would normally have a page--front.tpl.php file which would control the layout of the front page and all other pages would just fallback to the regular page.tpl.php. variables in these pages would essentially be regions that were just printed out like "print render($page['sidebar'])"
In omega the difference is that 'sections' are printed out instead:
<?php
print render($page[header]);
?>
<?php
print render($page[content]);
?>

I'm not sure how we got off track, but I'd still very much like to have Drupal meet ups!
If people are interested (and I know some of you are) please post!
I've put a good deal of thought into the meet ups in terms of how to make them better, more interesting, and more viable. Since we're a small group it may make sense to schedule meet ups further apart to avoid running out of topics. I think it's also worth exploring alternative formats: Topics and lightning rounds like the last few meetings, Show and Tell, or even just meeting up at a local pub or coffee shop.

Hey all,
I am working on a Drupal solution for a project here at work. Unfortunately, my coworkers have voted for M$ SharePoint as the platform solution. I know, I know says a lot about my coworkers but don't hold it against them. Anyway, I am going to build the solution in Drupal even if I have to do it on my own time.

We had another amazing Drupal meetup this Friday with three 20 minute presentations, a lightning round, and lots of open discussion about Drupal, the group, and ideas for future meetups. If you're reading this, new or interested to Drupal, or looking for other Drupalers to get your drop on with, please join us at our next meeting!
Lightning round with MBouchard: Feeds module - How the feeds module can be used to map fields in data feeds to fields in entities for automated importing, how feeds can be scheduled with cron, and using the Feed API to create modules with custom importers.

Hello everyone,
It was really awesome to meet the lot of you last week. There's a lot of great Drupal energy between us all, and I hope we've all been able to learn at least a little bit by bouncing ideas and thoughts off of each other.
We were able to follow the outline of proposed talks pretty well even though we weren't able to get to it all. I'd like to leave a review of the meeting here for those of us who'd like to checkback and for those of us who weren't able to make it. Then hopefully we can start planning our next meetup.

Simply put, Volunteering an hour of your time to help another is awarded with an exchangeable credit that can then be awarded to another through direct exchange for a service that they provide to you.

Hello,
I've been Drupaling for a little over a year now, and I've been interested in getting more involved with Drupal in terms of Meetups and community participation. There doesn't seem to be a very Vibrant Drupal community here in Albany, but I do know of a handful of people around here using it.
I don't have a location worked out, though my work is willing to let us use their conference room if we can't find something better. The one here is small and dated.

Carpool to Western MA Drupal from NY.
I am driving to the Western Mass Drupalcamp this weekend from Ithaca, NY. Was wondering if anybody on my way might want a ride? Here is my route. I am presenting at the camp: http://drupalcampma.com/power-views.
Mainly just looking for company on part of the 4.5 hour drive. Also would consider sharing a hotel room but not necessary.
Thanks
