This is a bit of a bait to lure Calgary Drupalers out of the woodwork. At least I'm assuming that there are others out there. I can't be the only one in a city of a million.
Take the bait, join the group.
DrupalCon North America being scheduled for 2012 (and beyond).
The DrupalCon North American Regional Organizing Group is looking for input from us, the Drupal community, to help pick the location for DrupalCon North America being scheduled for 2012 (and beyond).
They have put together a brief “straw poll” intended to gauge community interest about various cities that have been suggested as potential good locations.

Simple post to promote COSSFEST. Hopefully the Calgary Drupal community can send people to COSSFEST. Any one wishing to speak contact Shawn Grover (sgrover@open2space.com). I'm already planning to do a site building presentation but given some volume I'm sure we can get a Drupal track going.

Apologies if this post is not relevant to the group....
The Calgary Open Source Systems Festival (COSSFEST) is under active planning for an April/May 2009 event. We have the start of a new website in place at http://www.cossfest.ca. We are looking for someone with better graphic design skills than myself, and with enough spare time to bring this site to life. There are a few things we'd like the site to do that I have no experience with (online paid registration, etc).

Hi all --
I'm passing through Calgary this coming weekend and was hoping to connect with folks. I put up an Upcoming entry: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1153433/
This won't be a Drupal-only meetup, but I've called the STIRR Canada folks, and some other people from Banff Venture Forum might be around as well.
Venue suggestions?

In just two weeks, Drupal designers and developers from Alberta, BC, PEI & Montana will gather at the University of Lethbridge for Drupal Camp Alberta 2008.
In the past week - we secured our speakers & sponsors, opened registration and are expecting approx 100 attendees - many of who are holding out on registration right now :-)

DCA08 is unlike any corporate conference you've ever attended - and for good reason. Focusing on "Drupal" - an open source content management system and application framework, DCA08 is a low-cost, highly collaborative "unconference" held in at the University of Lethbridge, in Southern Alberta, Canada.
Gone are the days of sponsored vendor presentations and for-profit registration fees. Our peer taught, volunteer-run sessions will by heavy with "doers", and light on the "talkers".
Join us July 3 & 4 from 8am - 5pm both days (Networking event on July 3rd)

After a short discussion with the powers that be at the University of Lethbridge, I have full approval to host Drupal Camp Alberta 2008 in June or early July.
Our facilities are top notch http://www.uleth.ca/conference/ (open WIFI, theatres, breakout rooms, entertainment and fitness facilities, AND campus housing summer rentals) - so we are going to take the bull by the horns and spread the word.
I know the organizers for DCV08 put it together at the speed of light, we are going to follow suit.

While rating modules is against the spirit of the Drupal contrib. community, I'm sure many of you have seen www.drupalmodules.com - which has some great peer reviews and suggestions for modules for your next project.
One of the main drawing points to Drupal as a CMS is the size of the community, the quality of the code base (and contrib modules), but also the dizzying array of module choices available to us. Drupalmodules.com helps reduce the noise - and so far, the top module list is bang-on.
One new module I found through this method is the "Admin Role" module.

My experience at Drupal Camp Vancouver left me wanting more from our own web dev community here in Lethbridge.
DCV08 sold out in two days, was $21 bucks (including lunch and a shirt) and was the best exchange of info from frontline developers I've seen in a long time!
I'd love to offer the same experience to Drupal developers in Calgary and the rest of Southern Alberta. It would be super cost-effective (but realistic?) to take over the Galt for a two day Drupal camp of around 100 people. I'm unsure if developers from Calgary would make the trip.
Southern Alberta Drupal'ers
Hello Neighbours to the North!
You might not know it, but there's a budding Drupal community just a bit South of you in Lethbridge.
We've started our own group (awaiting moderation) and would love to connect with other themers and Drupal developers in Calgary and the rest of Southern Alberta! I'll post again when our group is ready for prime time.
I recently returned from Drupal Camp Vancouver 2008 and would love to see a similar event in terms of quality and size of community. Whaddya think?

Since I know internationalization is a big deal to Canadians, I figured I'd cross-post this to some groups. Please don't kill me, this is important. :) There's very little time to get these patches in before code freeze! (June 1)
The following patches desperately need reviews from people familiar with internationalization of site content. The goal is to get Drupal 6 to have internationalization right in core:
