About Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD)
Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD) is the umbrella group for most of the Drupal activity in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
With several weekly and monthly events, the Greater Los Angeles Area is one the most active areas for Drupal in the world. We've been bringing more Drupal to more people since 2010, and have as many as 10 meetups and other events dedicated to Drupal topics each and every month.
Our members and organizers have produced hundreds of Drupal events, including job fairs, meetups and workshops, conferences, paid trainings, coworking days, study group sessions, movie outings, FREE tutoring sessions from Drupal professionals, and website barnraisings to benefit non-profits and members of our community.
The Greater Los Angeles Drupal leadership team endeavors to actively empower and support volunteers and attendees in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and to provide resources (venues, guidance, equipment, raffle prizes, etc.) and an open governance model with consistency, transparency and accountability.

What's different about this group? (?)
In addition to our unique open governance model, GLAD has a different geographic focus than other regional groups. Formerly named Downtown Los Angeles Drupal, we've been meeting regularly in and around Downtown Los Angeles, California, since early 2010.
GLAD organizers lead a large number of events in the Greater Los Angeles Area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Culver City, Santa Monica, Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Riverside and Ventura.
Items here are "new and interesting" based on their number of votes, number of comments, how recently it was posted, etc.

Downtown Drupal Meetup at Sensis Agency on April 2, 2013: Installation Profiles (What Are They & What Do They Do?)
The next Downtown Drupal meetup is on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 and will be at Sensis Agency in Downtown Los Angeles. Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx.
At this meetup, we're having our usual news and announcements, as well as raffle prizes, featured presentations and lightning talks (which are short, bite-sized presentations).
Installation Profiles: What Are They & What Do They Do?
One of Greater Los Angeles Drupal's organizers, Christefano Reyes (@christefano), presents on the topic of Drupal installation profiles.
Installation profiles are packaged Drupal distributions that ship with out-of-the-box functionality aimed at solving specific business use cases, such as extranet / intranet sites (OpenAtrium), social networks for businesses (Drupal Commons), coworking space management systems (Otto), e-commerce sites (Commerce Kickstart) and even security-hardened Drupal sites (Guardr).
This presentation will include demonstrations of the aforementioned installation profiles and include time for questions and answers.
We have time for additional presentations at this meetup. Is there a presentation topic that you're interested in? Post a comment below to either request or offer a presentation, or contact one of the organizers listed above. Thanks you!

Originally announced as a comprehensive weekend exploration of all facets of the Drupal content management system, the First Annual GLADCamp (Greater Los Angeles Drupal Camp), originally set for April 26th-28th at USC, has been postponed to 2014.
Regardless of the professional conflicts which prevent a free, 100% volunteer-run conference originally envisioned for the Drupal community from occurring at this time, GLADCamp declares confidently that it will announce a brand-new date and venue as soon as both can be secured and confirmed.

Hello Fellow Ventura Drupallers,
I've been very interested to help host an event for Drupal in our area for some time. I can see that this area has not seen much in the way of new events in a while so I wanted to see if there was interested in meeting for a simple get together here in April. I know of a few venues that might potentially want to sponsor our event but it all comes down to the response. I was thinking of having some lightning talks, perhaps some one-on-one Drupal help, or featured talks.

Drupal in Education - New Website & Google+ Community
With the use of Drupal growing so rapidly in the Education field and with there being close to 80 people at the Drupacon Denver Education BOF, I think that it is time for us to unite and built a great community where we can all share ideas.
Again we are in the "very" beginning phases of building our community but would really like some input from as many people as possible.
Currently we have a website with just a form to collect information and a Google+ community.
