Is there a guide available for this migration? I saw that someone is working on an upgrade tool, but are there any manual steps available?

Commons 2.x-3.x Upgrade Tool - Looking for testers!

I've been working on a module that will provide a migration from Commons 2.x to 3.x (https://drupal.org/sandbox/nateswart/1946220). It's pre-alpha at this point, but close to being usable. I have a few small items to wrap up with it and some documentation to write on how to use it.

Is anyone out there looking to upgrade Commons from 2.x to 3.x and feeling brave enough to run some tests with/for me? Respond here and I'll let you know when I can set you loose on it!

fatal error when updating to drupal 7.12

I am getting "Fatal error: Call to undefined function drupal_json_encode_helper() in /mnt/www/html/xxxxdev/docroot/includes/common.inc on line 4880" when I upgrade to drupal 7.12. If I go back to 7.11 (which has the security fix) I am fine. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Restrict group content to group members in Commons 7.x-3.0

Hello everybody,

Firstly I want to apologise in advance if this is the wrong place for this question, if so please advise where I should post it.

I've recently started a project using Drupal commons 7.x-3.0, the prebuilt events and functionality is great.

However one of the requirements is that only a (public) group member can associate group content with a (public) group.

I understand that commons is built to allow anybody to post into a public group however I thought I could just remove this functionality.

Commons Roadmap

Congratulations to Ezra-g and everyone else who made the Drupal Commons release happen it looks amazing.

I have been testing and some features that are in use on my site haven't made it from Commons 6.x-2 to 7.x-3.0, so I have been wondering about the roadmap for some of these non-MVP features are. My hope is that we would see a feature complete version of Drupal Commons 3.x before Drupal 8 comes out. How reasonable is this from a timing perspective?

When I say "Feature Complete" I mean that every feature in Commons 6.x-2.x is available in 3.x, or is documented as deprecated.

In my opinion, here should be a rating system for modules, themes etc.

When I brows the module section at drupal.org, I always see most downloaded module at the first page. There should be a rating system for modules. It could be divided as
1. User interface
2. Functional Design
3. Functional Support
.....
...
and so more

should I turn to Drupal commons?

I've been considering building one photo SNS site (similar to Flickr) and one wiki site in Drupal in recent days. Since I am not an expert, I found it a big project to build an SNS-based site with Drupal as I have to manage every small module.

Then I luckily found that Commons distribution began to support Drupal 7 (3.0 beta1). It's very exciting as it may save me a lots of time. However, I am not sure if the included modules can satisfy all my demand and surely in the future I have to add some feature to the sites.

So, how to learn Commons?

Sorting documents in a Commons Group

Hello

I would like documents created within a group to be sorted alphabetically by title name. At the moment they seem to be sorted according to creation date. Is there some simple way to change the sorting of these documents or, if not, which file do I have to hack to ensure that sorting occurs in this way (and how)? The reason I need this is that I am running an academic website and would like documents sorted according to the author name as it appears in the title box.

I am still somewhat puzzled by drupal. I hope that this qiestion is not too silly.

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Best place to discuss Drupal Commons 3?

Hi everyone -- I am a long-time but lightweight Drupal user and administrator (not a developer!). I am exploring the release of Drupal Commons 3 that is available on d.o. and have some questions... I've run into some roadblocks (for example, cannot get WYSIWYG editor working, which I have no problem with in a straight D7 install) and need to make a decision very soon whether to proceed with DC3 for a website that needs to be rolled out on Dec. 10, or whether to just go with OG and keep it simple for now.
