Orlando Drupal Meetup
I am determined to break our meetup hiatus, so I have decided to rent the Library meeting room at Herndon Plaza (near Fashion Square Mall) for a meetup. I did have a few offers for meeting locations, but something in me wishes for a central location with ample parking was high on my list for this first meeting back after such a long break.

I recently moved to the Pensacola area, and see that there isn't a regular event here out west? Maybe there are some people in the Mobile area?
I'm willing to present, organize and help foster a new meetup if there is anyone out my way who wants to get together to learn/talk/rant about Drupal, let me know.
I'm not opposed to driving to events, but Hopping on I-10 for 3 hours to get to a meetup that lasts that long doesn't sound like a ton of fun.
Read moreAdding a Job Application to Your Site
Hi All,
Let's say your client asks you to add a job application to their site so users can fill out an application online rather than going through the outdated traditional paper process. Most big companies and job board sites today use online job applications, which is convenient for both the person applying and the employer.

It is really great to see we now have 499 members in the Florida Drupal Users group. Who will be number 500???
With that many people we should have a packed house at each local user group. I know in Sarasota we have more room for people to participate.
Why not go to the next meeting of your local group and meet some really nice people. FYI the Sarasota meeting is tomorrow night.
Thanks to all of you for helping make the community part of Drupal real!!!

Gainesville Drupal Users Group This Thurs, Nov 8th at 7pm
For this Thursday's November meetup, the Gainesville Drupal Users Group have two (not one.. but two!) main presentations!
1. Sublime Text Editor
Gainesville's own Brandon Ratzloff will be presenting on Sublime Text Editor, which is an extremely popular cross-platform text editor. From their website: Sublime Text is a sophisticated text editor for code, markup and prose. You'll love the slick user interface, extraordinary features and amazing performance.
2. Webform 4.x Module
Mike Herchel will be going over Drupal's popular Webform module, and the new features in its 4.0 alpha version. This includes private fields and conditional fields. Also covered will be several related modules that extend Webform to even more greatness.
For those of you not-in-the-know, Webform is the defacto form and survey creation tool within Drupal. You can use it to create simple contact forms to advanced applications that populate PDF forms to everything in between.
In addition, we'll have
- A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
- A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites
- Roundtable discussion - What have you done or learned in the last month that's worth showing off?
- A happy-hour / social event afterwards - probably at Harry's or The Top (both are within walking distance)! This'll give us a chance to nerd-talk over a beer or three :)
Details:
- When: Thurs November 8h, 2012 7pm-9pm EDT
- Where: the Alachua County Downtown Libary (401 East University Ave) Click for Map.
- Room: We'll be in the Foundation Room, which is up the stairs and to the left (follow the wall until you see the sign. Ask for help if needed).
- Afterwards: We'll be going out for food/beer/socializing at a restaurant/bar within walking distance.
- What to bring: Bring your laptop if you have one, if not, don't worry!

Originally, this article was entitled "How to make Windows' Drush Make command work in Drush 5.7" but it has evolved into "How to manually upgrade Drush on Windows XP and 7".
The Drush Make command does not work in Windows 7 / Vista, when using Drush release 5.5, 5.6, or 5.7. There is a Drush 5.8 windows installer, which fixes the make issue. However, if you want to upgrade to drush 5.9 or 6.0, there are no installers for them. No worries. This article will provides instructions for manually installing the latest version of Drush in Windows.

Read moreUsing drush makefiles
Spent some time over the past few days setting up a drush makefile.
Drush is the Drupal Shell, and if you’re not using it you should be. Drush MAKE is a great function -- It creates a website pre-loaded with the themes and modules you prefer with a single command. All you have to do afterward is enable the ones you want – and you can do that also from Drush.
Setting up a makefile isn’t difficult, but there are a couple of tricks. And the docs don’t explain them well. Here’s what you need to know…
Read moreInstalling Drush on Win 7 so it runs in a Git Bash Window
All,
I noticed that quite a few people in the Drupal Easy Career Starter Program could not get drush to work in their git bash windows.
This is because the software was not installed with the correct option! When you install drush using the Drush 5.7 Windows Installer, the attached screen will appear.
If you notice, there are three boxes that are "X" out. The second box / line is titled "Register Environmental Variables". You should un "X" this box. When you click on this box, you will receive a drop down menu. Choose "Will be installed on local hard drive".
