Special Notice

I am writing this I am in Costa Rica but the Coral Gables workshop will go on being hosted by Dan Denysenko on Monday, August 13, 2012. I will be back for the Saturday, August 25, 2012 for the Miami Beach Workshop.

I would like to thank Dan Denysenko for taking over for me and also like to thank him for all of his hard work with Drupal of Miami. His knowledge and skills have helped many. It is so appreciated by all of the people that attend our workshops.

Join the Gainesville Drupal Users Group Thursday, September 13th at 7pm at the Alachua Downtown Library (Click for Map.)

For the September meetup, we'll have two (yes, two!) main presentations:

1. LESS CSS Preprocessor, which extends CSS with dynamic behavior such as variables, mixins, operations and functions.

2. An overview of simplifying your content creator's Drupal interface. This will include using inline editing in the Views module, an update on the Spark distribution, and an overview of the Workbench module.

In addition, we'll have

• A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
• A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites
• Roundtable discussion - What have you done or learned in the last month that's worth showing off?
• A happy-hour / social event afterwards - probably at Harry's or The Top (both are within walking distance)! This'll give us a chance to nerd-talk over a beer or three :)

Where: the Alachua County Downtown Libary (401 East University Ave) Click for Map.

Room: We'll be in the Foundation Room, which is up the stairs and to the left (follow the wall until you see the sign. Ask for help if needed).

Afterwards: We'll be going out for food/beer/socializing at a restaurant/bar within walking distance.

What to bring: Bring your laptop if you have one, if not, don't worry!

An organizational meeting for the upcoming 2012 South Florida DrupalCamp is going to be August 9th, 2012 @ 4pm EST and every Thursday at 4pm EST thereafter until the day of the event.

DrupalCamp South Florida will be held in the same venue as last year - Nova Southeastern University - on October 20, 2012.

This month we'll have Mediacurrent's Andrew Riley in from Orlando to give his presentation on " Git Intro." Last month a lot of members wanted to learn some more about using Drupal and Git.

In addition this month we are going to try and setup for remote acces vis Google Hangout. We'll just be doing a "broadcast only" hangout though but will be available in IRC (#drupal) for any questions.

Late in getting this up here, but better late than never right? :)

We won't have our usual projector and screen tonight. So we'll be foregoing our usual presentation format to take some time to talk about problems people are having, or questions, or talk about a site you've worked on (or are currently working on) that you've used Drupal with.

Depending on the # of attendees we could even break into smaller groups and huddle around laptops, etc.

July 28, 2012 This Saturday at 12:00 Noon till 4:00pm
We will be working on "Upgrading Drupal 7 Core from 7.12 to 7.14. We will be working on Modules, which ones to use and how they work. The Panels and Views is what we will be working on specifically.

Special Notice for August Meetings

On the 1st of the month I will be in Costa Rica for three weeks and there will only be one workshop on August 25, 2012 on Miami Beach.

Learn to be not afraid of your tpl files. Explore the all the elements of making a tpl file your own. Additionally we can take a look at Drupal ladder to see if we can the next step... All other ideas are welcome.

We will order pizza at 6:15 so it will arrive before it is time to leave. Please bring your favorite drink or snack. I will have ice tea.
