Gainesville Drupal Users Group: Thurs, Jan 10th at 7pm
This is 2013's inaugural meetup! Come join the fun, learn Drupal and have a few beers!
1. Arbitrarily Sorting Content: NodeQueue vs. Draggable Views
Are you looking for a way to arbitrarily order your data? Do you need to do any of the following?
- Sort your slideshow pictures into an order that only makes sense to you
- Put your ecommerce products in a specfic order
- Organize your FAQs the way that you want them
Within the Drupalverse, there are two popular ways to do this: NodeQueue and Draggable Views. Both have different but similar feature-sets. In this presentation, Mike Herchel will walk you through the pros and cons, configurations and use-cases of each module.
2. Roundtable** Discussion
Have something new and cool that you've done? Need help with a particular topic? Stuck on a View? Bring it up at the roundtable**. This is your chance! Bring it up!
In addition, we'll have
- A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
- A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites
- Roundtable discussion - What have you done or learned in the last month that's worth showing off?
- A happy-hour / social event afterwards - probably at Harry's or The Top (both are within walking distance)! This'll give us a chance to nerd-talk over a beer or three :)
Details:
- When: Thurs January 10th, 2012 7pm-9pm EDT
- Where: the Alachua County Downtown Libary (401 East University Ave) Click for Map.
- Room: We'll be in the Foundation Room, which is up the stairs and to the left (follow the wall until you see the sign. Ask for help if needed).
- Afterwards: We'll be going out for food/beer/socializing at a restaurant/bar within walking distance.
- What to bring: Bring your laptop if you have one, if not, don't worry!
**Disclaimer: The table is actually kind of rectangluar.

MediaFront Code Sprint Preparation: help needed
This Sunday is the MediaFront code sprint, and I want to go in ready to contribute.
In an effort to get familiar with the MediaFront module I set up a simple site on WebEnabled and uploaded a 30 second AVI video; and after 4 hours I cannot get it to play. Has anybody else here got it going? I tried using the instructions found here:
http://drupal.org/node/1563580 and http://drupal.org/node/1563584 and http://drupal.org/node/1563586.
Git for Dev Teams
Hey git folk, can anyone recommend some links or other resources on how to set up permissions for multiple users on an Ubuntu server for git? I can't seem to find anything that is step-by-step or works. I know it involves setting the sticky bit but there's more to it than that.

Gainesville Drupal Meetup this Thurs (12/13) 7pm: Data, Feeds, Sublime and Git!
Gainesville Drupal Users Group This Thurs, Dec 13th at 7pm
For this December's meetup, the Gainesville Drupal Users Group have 2.5 presentations!
1. Data and Feeds to suit all your needs!
Tired of trying to store all your data as nodes? Need to migrate content into your Drupal site? Brandon Ratzloff will teach you how to create, manage and import database tables using Feeds and Data Module! The best part is, it all works with Views.
1.5 Sublime Text Editor
Brandon Ratzloff will also be giving a half-presentation on Sublime Text Editor, which is an extremely popular cross-platform text editor. From their website: Sublime Text is a sophisticated text editor for code, markup and prose. You'll love the slick user interface, extraordinary features and amazing performance.
3. Followup on Version Control Systems (Git)
In addition, Dave Ingram will be discussing the principals and philosophies of Version Control Systems, and in particular, git, the Distributed Version Control System designed by the creator of Linux and used by the Drupal project. Topics discussed will be the ideas behind using a version control system and basic commands and tools to start using git in your own projects. Some specific considerations when using git with Drupal will also be discussed. Finally, hear Dave's thoughts on how git and Drupal truly can make the world a better place.
In addition, we'll have
- A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
- A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites

Problem with a List Field
I have a problem and need some guidance. Putting it into words is almost as difficult as finding the solution. I am working on a site for an association. There are about 140 member organizations in the association. When a person registers for the site, I have added the module Profile 2 to gather additional info.

For December we'll have another social event as we did for November. Come prepared to talk about any problems you are having or modules you really have been enjoying recently.
We do need a venue. We could use Alot Hotel again like last month if that worked out well or I'm open to other suggestions as well.
In addition I do want to get a speaker/topic scheduled for January. See our topics schedule for ideas: http://groups.drupal.org/node/243873

Hi,
I actually live and work in Australia, but I'm technically still a florida resident and still consider it home. I'll be coming back to Miami in December for a few weeks (18th - 9th) and was curious if there any Drupal meetups planned or anyone who'd like to catch a drink and talk shop? I might even be down for a little hacking session if someone is keen.
