Florida Meetup Proposal - Coding for a Cause April
For the second consecutive year, we failed to complete the Coding for a Cause site during Florida DrupalCamp. We need to rectify this, and I'd like to suggest a solution. I just posted this in the description for the Orlando meetup, but I was afraid not everyone would see it, so I'm semi-reposting (so I'm only semi-lame) it here.

I just posted the as-official-as-it-is-going-to-get Florida DrupalCamp 2011 wrapup over on DrupalEasy.com. The wrapup contains information from the post-camp survey as well as lessons we learned.
I decided to post it on DrupalEasy so that it would be picked up by Drupal planet - there are a good deal of "lessons learned" that are relevant to DrupalCamp organizers in other locations.

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Dunkin' Donuts - Small Conference Room (this site has two conference rooms - our conference room is on the left as you come in)

Drupalcon Steak Roundup - Florida
I posted this in the previous threads, but I didn't get an automated email, and no responses... Anyway... since most of us are flying up in 2-3 days , let’s try to finalize this!
For those new to this discussion, please see http://groups.drupal.org/node/128729.
- Sunday - Some people not in Chicago yet
- Monday – Most people (but not all) in Chicago
- Tuesday – Field Museum Part @7pm.
- Wednesday – Lullabot Party @8pm – Possible to eat beforehand!!
- Thursday – ?? Probably a party this evening.
- Friday – I’m flying out in the AM
Does anyone have any preferences? A couple ideas on my part:
- If we meet earlier (Monday), we can meetup and discuss potential sessions, and fun things to do for the week
- Tuesday's out because most people are going to the Field Museum Party which starts early (7pm)
- Wednesday Night could be good, because the Lullabot party doesn't start til 8pm.
March Tampa Bay Meetup (#7)
The 7th meetup for the Tampa Bay Drupal users group is this Thursday, March 3rd @ 6pm.
The topic for this month's discussion is on SEO, presented by Harry. He will cover the basics of SEO, how to get your site to perform better in Google and other useful tips.
Also likely items for discussion: The Florida DrupalCamp experience (as some group members attended and are anxious to share their thoughts), as well as some info/comments about the forthcoming TBDUG website.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM, and the location is at the Panera on Ulmerton Road:

Read moreDrupalcon Chicago: Anyone Interested in a FL Drupal Meetup at a Steakhouse?
Would any Florida Drupal people be interested in getting together up in Chicago for a world-class steak? Chicago is world renowned for its steakhouses, and I personally don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.
The restaurant that I specifically have in mind is Gene & Georgetti. Gene & Georgetti ages their beef for aged for 35 days and then cooks them in a 1800 degree infrared broiler. They have been featured on the food network and travel channel. From www.travelchannel.com
Founded in 1941, Gene & Georgetti is located in the heart of Chicago's River North. One of the city's oldest and finest steakhouses, its menu pleases locals and tourists alike with a unique combination of classic steaks and traditional Italian dishes. The secret to the 200+ steaks that come through the restaurant's kitchen doors each day is the wet-aging. Dry-aged meet is hung before it's cooked and served; wet-aged steak marinates in its own juices before hitting the broiler. Reservations are highly recommended, and you might find yourself sitting near Russell Crowe, Keanu Reeves, Vince Vaughn or Will Ferrell -- all patrons of this Chicago landmark.
Looking at their menu, I'd estimate each person to get out of there for between $60 and $70- assuming that you have a prime steak and side. However, if that's a bit too much for you, take a look at the menu. There are several pasta dishes, etc that can get you out for much less.
The restaurant is located less than 1 mile away from the "Drupal Tower", and is a 20 minute walk (weather permitting), or 5 minute cab or bus.

Wow. What a weekend. Florida DrupalCamp 2011 is in the books and by all accounts it was a huge success. With almost 250 attendees and 6 tracks of sessions, this was the largest Drupal event ever held in the state of Florida. Attendees traveled from all corners of Florida, as well as a growing number from out-of-state (Illinois, New Jersey, Georgia, North Carolina, to name a few) to participate.
If you took any pictures at the event, please tag them with #FLDC when you post them on your social media site of choice. If you have any feedback from the event, feel free to post it publicly in the comments below or privately via the Florida DrupalCamp web site contact form. If you'd like to help out, sponsor, or present at next year's camp, please let us know as well.
