The Grand Rapids Drupal User Group (GRupal) is a collection of developers, designers, content managers, and businesspeople who use Drupal personally or professionally. We meet monthly, at 6PM on the first Monday of the month, at The Factory (38 Fulton S. West, Suite 400). Our meetings involve presentations on technical topics, assistance with each others' projects, and social time for networking and relaxation.

Pantheon provides Drupal specific hosting tools and gives you two sites for free. This can be useful for getting the hang of the three tier development, testing and production infrastructure, and can be a useful development tool to try out new modules and configuration.

This month we're going to be covering the general topic of backing up websites. I believe we have a volunteer to give a presentation regarding the Backup/Migrate module.
Let's expand the subject a little bit to include running parallel test sites, migrating sites, & sharing unique experiences we've all had regarding these tasks.
As always, please bring any Drupal-related issues you might have for troubleshooting. We all seem to really enjoy solving problems as a group and everyone learns something.

Hello Group,
I've been building a site with an Omega 3.x sub-theme and things are moving along nicely for the most part.
Except for this.
I needed a place for my banner image on the site, so I created a block, inserted the image, and placed the block in the 'Branding' region of the Omega sub-theme. I configured the block to display on all pages except the "front" page.
I needed a footer image as well, so I did pretty much exactly the same thing as above.

I've been experimenting with loading some jQuery plugins and noticed that when adding these .js files to my .info file, it messes up the normal function of jquery on my website. My plugin functions works . . . but then I noticed that when I went to do some work in Rules, the selectors were missing or something and the little blue ajax spinner or whatever it is would spin for a second then stop but nothing would load. If I comment out my new jquery script loads from .info, then all works well again.

My wife is the webmaster of the Association of Michigan Basketmakers (http://www.michiganbasketmakers.com/). She was just informed that the company hosting their website is shutting down and it needs to be migrated somewhere else in the next couple weeks. It is a very simple site with not much traffic. She told me she currently has 650mb of storage for $204 a year. She is looking for a new host with similar storage/cost and a Michigan company would be a plus. Anyone have suggestions?

Our discussion this month will focus on Drupal and calendar integration. We'll look at some basic calendar integration--but then after some basic overview, we'll see if we can get fancy! Let's explore i-cal integration and as many interesting variations as we have time for. Bring your tips and tricks regarding ways that you've integrated calendars into your Drupal sites and share them with the group.

The Future of GRupal
Hello Grupalers, some of you may have heard that I have moved to Mutually Human Software where I am no longer Drupaling. As such, I no longer plan on attending the Drupal meetups. I may stop in every now and again, but I won't be involved in any planning. I tell you this not so that you may be dismayed, but rather that someone else can feel free to step up and bring some momentum back to the group.
