The Grand Rapids Drupal User Group (GRupal) is a collection of developers, designers, content managers, and businesspeople who use Drupal personally or professionally. We meet monthly, at 6PM on the first Monday of the month, at The Factory (38 Fulton S. West, Suite 400). Our meetings involve presentations on technical topics, assistance with each others' projects, and social time for networking and relaxation.

We'll start out by launching Tim's (tjslager) Drupal site, so if you've ever had technical difficulties figuring out requirements turning the switch for a Drupal site, you need to be here. Ross (Qwert302) will then be experimenting with installing Drupal 7 on grupalers.com.

Ok, so are planning on the 14th? Same drupal time, same drupal place?
Who's going to present? There was a desire to go over installation and best practices such as properly setting up the database, uploading files etc. Perhaps hosting options and updating the core could be rolled into this conversation as well?
For those of you who didn't make it last time, we will probably conclude the event with some socializing again. Last time a group of drupalers went to grab some food and drinks afterward and merriment was experienced by all. Hopefully you can make it this time.

Hello all. I'm a new member of the Grand Rapids Drupal group and wanted to quickly introduce myself. I am Sam Oltz and I'm a web developer at Spearia in Comstock Park. I've been creating Drupal sites for some time now and only recently discovered our local group. I use several CMS' and frameworks depending on the project, but Drupal is definitely my favorite. I'm a heavy module modder and have created numerous custom modules, so if you ever need assistant making Drupal work the way you want it to, let me know.

Drupal Camp Chicago 2009 is coming up for Dec 12 & 13.
Tickets are only $25!
Saturday, 12th is a conference/unconference with 3 tracks of pre-planned sessions/speakers and a parallel unconferences sessions.
Sunday, 13th is an unconference.
I'm thinking about attending just the 12th (Sat), as I need to attend church on Sunday.
Anyone interested in carpooling? Maybe we can get a 3-4 people together to drive down together.

Denise, Ross, and I did some brainstorming at our first session of the (revived) group tonight. Here are some topic ideas for future sessions.
Session ideas that would require a presenter—someone who either knows a topic well or will do research prior to the meetup:
- Drupal project roadmap
- Search engine optimization
- JavaScript/jQuery and Drupal
- Performance
- Guest lecturers (people from out of town, etc.)
Session ideas that would be group-focused:
