Notes on the Drupal Johannesburg 11 March meetup
For me, it was great to see everyone again, although I was disappointed that there weren't more than 3 new faces among the 15 or so that turned up. We do need to do something to attract more new members. I particularly enjoyed hearing about what new modules people have discovered, and enjoyed the less formal discussions afterwards. The discussion about the direction and future of the group was also very interesting and I think the issues spoken about need to be addressed, perhaps using drupal.co.za to better effect. On these lines, this post on tips and best practices for local Drupal groups is highly relevant. In particular, I think the group leadership needs to be shared between 3-4 people in order to grow and improve the group. For a more detailed summary see my Drupal Johannesburg 11 March meetup notes.

I like this group because we have lots of group admins, and should be very cool to have their local meeting reports here, so we can keep track about what is going on and perhaps collaborate digitally.
Perú is a group in spanish but I promise to translate the reports to english and place them here also.
Blessings!

I just posted a Wiki on the Seattle group about "Why we have events". This came from a discussion we had at our monthly meeting yesterday. It lists the different types of events we have held or think about holding, and what costs/benefits there are from each. Might be of interest...

On this wiki, please post the methods of marketing (FREE & PAID) that you have used to promote your group. This way we can make sure we're reaching the largest base possible. I am confident of the fact that there are people using Drupal in my area who do not know there is a group that meets twice a month.
There are some good tips on marketing from the notes from the Local User Group BOF in Barcelona.

Read moreHosting a Drupal Users' "Hack Night"
Hi All,
I'm a co-organizer for the Triangle, NC Drupal User's group, and we're looking to increase our number of meetings to 2x/month and have one of those meetings be a "hack night" or sorts, where members come in with their problems and find someone to help them find a solution.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience hosting an event of this type, and if you have any advice, tips, warnings, etc. to provide to those of us looking to do this for the first time.
Thanks!

Building on the work that Nedjo did for organizing a Design sprint (Thanks Nedjo!) I'll like to get some help with refining and creating a guide for managing and hosting a Drupal meetup. Eventually I'll like to create a book page on d.o with a meetup guide, camp guide and sprint guide.

Our local Linux User Groups frequently get free copies of books to give out at meetings. I thought this would be great to do at the Denver/Boulder meetings, especially given the recent release of the Drupal Pro development series. After contacting a few people I found this page from APress:
