Best way to structure information for optimal performance
I am not a developer but a very hands-on subject matter expert.
Having been badly burnt by poor performance in the past, I am trying to pre-empt performance issues. Please suggest what is the ideal way to build the site: through taxonomy, content types (CCK) or what?
Expected load:
50-500 users logged in. Approximately 10 times as many anonymous. This may increase further.
Taxonomy:
1500 terms with ten or so cross references:
For example:
Vocabulary 1: all animals
Vocabulary 2: all countries

Hi Everyone,
Read moreJacksonville.com and the Morris site management system
I've previously mentioned that we at Morris have been working on a standard configuration to support moving all of our newspaper sites to Drupal. We began by jumping into the deep end of the pool with our biggest and most complicated problem (oops, I mean newspaper): the Florida Times-Union. We threw the switch Wednesday morning and made the new Jacksonville.com site live.
We do plan to release code, templates and configurations, but we're not nearly ready to do that yet. We have to move on to rebuild the Topeka Capital-Journal's website, CJOnline.com, and evolve a standard setup that we're happy with. Meanwhile, I've been blogging about some of the details, and you can follow along.

Read moreHow can I organize 1.200 articles imported from an old joomla site?
Hello everybody, This is my first post here. English is not my mother tongue, so I apologise in advanced if I'm not clear...
I'm working on a cultural magazine which has many sections and categories. After 3 days of hard work I have finally moved from my old joomla portal all articles to my shiny brand new Drupal system which I'm very happy with.
The most difficult thing so far is organising all the contents: I've tried with the category module and simpleviews but still can't find the way to set a bulk operation to add vocabulary o categories on the fly to the uncategorised content.
Read moreAn update on our Drupal conversion
It's been awhile since I posted an update on the Morris project to build a newspaper site management system on the Drupal platform. We're moving toward a complete relaunch (and complete redesign) of Jacksonville.com, our largest newspaper site, in a couple of weeks. Some details are posted on my blog.
Major modules being used are:
CCK
Views
Panels 2
Content Recommendation Engine
Daypart (new module to be released by Morris)
FeedAPI
Image, Imagecache
Lightbox2
Nodequeue
Organic Groups
Signwriter
Webform
Buddylist

Messed Up? - Imported text wrapping round an image!
I think I have messed up folks. Basically, I created a new content type with fields matching my XML import of news stories. However, I now have a requirement to display a nice panel image (static and exactly the same on every page) in the top right of EVERY story content i.e. with the text flowing around it on every one of these content type pages. I have over 500 pages that were imported recently. Is this possible to do, is there some sort of theming thing I can try to do so that for every one of these content type pages, it displays the image and flows the imported text around it?

Hi,
Just wanted to pop my head in and let everyone know of the new release of ProsePoint (www.prosepoint.org), a CMS for publishing online newspapers and magazines.
If you look closely at ProsePoint, you'll discover it's derived from Drupal. In fact, it's a Drupal distribution bundled into a single tarball for easy download. Of course, that means there's third party code in there, but it's all in the name of making life easier for end users.
Read moreOffline node creation
We are putting together a sports news site and are investigating ways of creating content/nodes offline (at an event etc) with the following workflow:
- Site editors create the content item (display fields, taxonomy, body text, photos etc) locally
- Hook up to internet and simply publish complete item into drupal site with one click.
Has anyone got any good pointers on this? One avenue we are looking at is using Adobe Air.
Thanks.

I'm having difficulty getting my head round using the node reference field and views
What I want is to have a contents page for a magazine issue with the contents displayed underneath it.
So far, I have a content type 'Issue' and content type 'Magazine article' and the magazine article has a node reference content field allowing the relevant Issue node to be selected.
But I am stuck on having the contents displayed when ever the Issue node is displayed.
Any advice on this?
I think it might be a views query but how do I have that as part of the Issue content type?
Read moreThree ways to create classified ads/business directory: reviews
As far as I can tell there are three primary avenues to creating the functionality needed for classified ad or business directory websites. I'm about to test each of them so that I can figure out which is best for my purposes, so I thought I'd post here and see if anyone has any experience with these modules and can help out. When I'm finished testing them myself, I'll post the results here.
The three avenues (as far as I can tell, if there are others, please let me know) are:
Read moretracking banner adds on newspaper site
Dear All, we want to start tracking our only 3 adds on the bottom of our newspaper site (done in drupal 5) (we only have 3 adds :))
Basically, in the page.tpl.php file I have hardcoded each image as per below:
a onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/bannerads/advertiser1/bottomLeft');" target="_blank" href="http://www.mysite.com"
For some reason though, my google analytics isnt picking any clicks up. I have clicked on the banners outside my own network on home PCs etc but still nothing in analytics which I search for content of /bannerads/
