Western Mass meeting?

Is anyone interested in meeting in Amherst/Northampton area to talk about Drupal? I'd be interested to see what other people are doing with it.

I've been using Drupal for about 9 months and am interested in learning how to create custom modules. I would be glad to help out any new Drupal users install Drupal and get started with it...

I'd be interested

Maybe we could meet at the Internet cafe in Amherst that has wireless. There would probably be no more than 5 of us so those accomodations would be OK. If we get a bigger crowd, I could look into getting some space at the UMass labor center.

Amherst

I'm at Rao's all the time (free wireless), so that would work for me. Are there other cafes with free wireless? Black Sheep Deli?

What day would be good for people? Weekday or weekend?

Which one is Rao's?

sdondley's picture

The one right next to the community center?

Yeah.. Kellogg Ave. That is the one that I know of. I think Black Sheep Deli also has wireless, but I'm not sure. There is also another cafe by the Carriage Shops but I don't know if they have wireless.

meeting?

Meeting

I've only heard back from one other person so far...

What do people think about Saturday, September 9th at 3pm in Amherst?

I'll be there - if its not too late

Hey, I only just noticed that this group exists. I'm in Amherst, using Drupal for about 6-9 months. If there is a meeting on, please let me know.

Rick

PS: It took me a while to realize that when you sign up to one of these Organic Groups, it does not automatically subscribe you to get email notices. I missed stuff because of that.

Meeting

Hi Rick,

I didn't get much response back about the other meeting idea. Maybe the email function is not enabled for everyone.
If you (or anyone) wants to organize a meeting, suggest a time and place.

I'm always working on a few Drupal sites. I would be interested to see what other people are doing with it.

I guess one way for sure

Rick Hood's picture

I guess one way for sure contact is to separately contact each subscriber and tell them to make sure they are really “subscribed" to this group (subscribing - will get emails). There are just 7 besides you and me - although not all of them allow email to them. Hmmmm....

I'll think about trying to organize a meeting. I know another guy In Amherst who is into Drupal and not on this group yet - will talk to him.

Yes, let's!

Oh wow, I just now accidentlaly noticed all the activity on this thread.

Yes, let's meet up! Rao's sometime next week? When is good for folks? Who wants to email all nine "subscribers" to make sure they know what's happening?

=T=

Yes, but let’s see if

Rick Hood's picture

Yes, but let’s see if there is a better place to meet. I love Raos but it can be way too crowded sometimes. If nothing else better, that would be OK.

One place I am checking it this: http://www.mediaed.org/ in Northampton. They have a great space with projector and screen. It's free – but waiting to hear back about whether a Drupal group would fall into what they allow the room to be used for.

Hey make sure you are subscribed to this groups email function.

Yes, good point, Rao's can

Yes, good point, Rao's can be crowded.

What about The Haymarket in Noho? They have wifi, and I see groups our size (9ish) meeting in their basement all the time.

Meanwhile, I may be doing a little work with mediaed.org on a project, so I'll mention this to them...

=T=

Haymarket can be crowded too

Rick Hood's picture

Haymarket can be crowded too - but probably downstairs is a better bet than Raos.

Maybe we should do a quick informal meeting at Haymarket, and then organize somethgin else later if the MEF space is available for later – presentations about stuff, etc..

I guess nights or weekends will insure more people are able to come? What is best for you - weeknights, weekend nights, weekend afternoons, mornings ?? All times are OK with me except Wednesdays all day

i like weeknights better

tones's picture

i like weeknights better than weekends, but can do either.

anyone else?

Meeting

Z2222's picture

Almost any day is ok for me if I can plan at least a few days in advance. Afternoons/evenings are better than mornings.

How's Thursday evening 8pm?

tones's picture

How's this Thursday evening, Sept 28, at 8pm?

Did you see event posting?

Rick Hood's picture

I posted an event yesterday. Did you mean to change that to September 28, or did you not see it? I'm not sure which. Thanks, Rick

Oh, apologies, I didn't see it. Nevermind the 9/28!

See y'all on the 12th...

Cool - see you then!

Cool - see you then! Should be fun. I think I will do an email blast to all in the group to let them know.

sounds great

I'm moving to Northampton around September 1. I wouldnt be able to make an August gathering but would love to meet with folks once I'm in the area.
