Hosting solutions in Austin?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Anyone have a suggestion on a local place to use for hosting? I think I've out grown hostmonster. They are cheap, but I've learned unlimited actually means restricted. My site is slow and they constantly apply cpu throttling on my site.

I really don't have a lot of traffic yet. I just want my site to be faster and want to find a local drupal friendly place.

I provide hosting for a few of my clients through Rackspace. If you're interested in a cost effective way of getting on Cloud Sites or Cloud Servers, let me know...I'm here in Austin. You can reach me at z[at]act2studio[dot]com.

As with zdean's hosting, mine is also in Dallas. (Austin hosting farms are rare and HostGator's are actually in Houston and Florida.) Ping time is ~20 ms from Austin.

This catalog reads “WordPress”, but it's the same setup for Drupal:

OnRamp does have a facility in Austin, but they don't offer virtual/shared hosting, so they start at about $175/mo for an actual blade server:

I'd break one of those down and resell it if there were enough interest in Austin, but the Internet backbones run through Houston and Dallas so unless your objective is almost exclusively high-throughput to the Austin area, the Houston and Dallas locations are superior.

midas networks

I recently started a relationship with Midas Networking in Austin. They have a data center up on Steck near Mopac. I have a dedicated server there and it is really fast and reasonably priced. http://www.midasnetworks.com/

I think they have shared hosting for around $15/month
