Drupalcon Boston 2008 - Tips and Tricks Revealed
I. Introduction
This is a summary document of all the useful tips and tricks learned from my week at Drupalcon Boston 2008. This Drupalcon is my first exposure to Drupal, so treat it as a beginners guide for new Drupalers looks to start their own Drupal business. There is a lot of valuable information for everyone else as well in this document. Note that I primarily attended the Marketing/Business and Site Building sessions, and I did not focus on the Community/Core, Design/User Experience, or "Birds of a Feather" round table discussions.

Hey all,
This is my first post on groups.drupal.org. I attended Drupalcon last week, and it was my first opportunity to learn about Drupal.
Attached I have shared the first revision summary of lessons I learned over the week at the conference. I created the document to help new Drupalers figure where to go for Drupal resources/site building help. I encourage everyone to check it out, you may find some information on Drupal resources you never knew about.

Lightning Talks
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to present for 5 minutes on a topic of their choosing. You may show off your Drupal site, ask some questions of the audience, give a module demonstration, share some marketing ideas for Drupal, and so on. Just keep it brief. No expertise required - just do it.
We will be hosted by the Berkman Center at Harvard University. Follow that link for directions. We are meeting upstairs in the Berkman Conference Room
After the meetup, some of us will likely continue the conversation over dinner at a local restaurant.
If you arrive late, you might need a cell phone to enter the building. We may not be able to prop the door open so you'd have to call the number posted on the door and we'll come open the door for you.

Read moreBeantown '08 logo for Drupalcon
Just a headsup for the new logo just added to the logo contest:
Please vote for it, if you want to see something distinctly Bostonian and Drupalish, and not just another "Logo 2.0ish",
The artist, Diallo ('D'), is a co-worker, and part of the great team at Commonplaces.
While a Patriots or Red Sox themed logo would be nice given their winning streaks this year, licensing issues make it unlikely to be feasible...
So what says Boston more than "Beantown"?
Provide accomodation for Drupalcon visitors?
Hello, we've had over 500 people register on the conference site.
However, a few people are looking for financial assistance: http://boston2008.drupalcon.org/contributors-need-financial-assistance
If you'd be willing to offer discounted accomodation, or open your home to a Drupal community contributor please get in touch with the people listed above.
Thanks,
Kieran Lal

Non-software Project Management
Anyone know how to contact Mike Booth? He's a regular attender at our Boston meetings and I want to talk to him about this post. He said he's seriously thinking about helping with either Drupal Project or a non-software oriented, Drupal-based project management capability.
Anyone else interested in working on this? I'd love to see how quickly we could get some traction around this.

Drupalcon Boston, March 3rd-6th
The Drupal Association
is pleased to announce that the next Drupalcon will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA from March 3 - 6, 2008 in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
This Drupalcon represents two big advancements for Drupalcon.
- Larger capacity. The last two Drupalcon's have sold out, capped at 450 people. Depending on final arrangements we may be able to handle 700 at this event.
- Community expansion. Drupalcon is being held at the same time/place as AIIM International Exposition & Conference, the largest content management technology conference in North America. Though technically independent of each other, the Boston team is working to arrange some cross-event access. The goal: introduce Drupal to thousands of potential new Drupalers.
The Drupalcon Boston 2008 team is working hard to finalize conference details before opening registration and the session proposal system. We are also just now finalizing sponsorship packages. Watch boston2008.drupalcon.org and the drupal.org home page (rss feed) for future announcements. In the mean time, start making your travel arrangements and gathering your session proposal information.
The Drupal Association encourages potential organizers from the community to start preparing proposals for the fall 2008 Europe Drupalcon and the spring 2009 North America Drupalcon. We are also interested in hosting Drupalcons in other parts of the world.

Hi there,
I realize this is non-drupal specific, but we're using drupal these days and we're in Boston, so I figured I'd ask you guys. :) Does anyone know of a flash developer in the area? The site's already built, but requires some tweaking and we don't have the resources in-house to do it. Thanks!

As announced, we are doing another meetup on Nov 6 at 6:30pm.
We've been invited by Team Lullabot to hold our meetup in downtown Providence at the famous Biltmore hotel. Their whole team is in town giving workshops. Are folks interested in changing things up and doing the meeting there? I recognize that it is quite far for many people. Please post a comment here if you can go to Providence, and if not, would you go to Harvard Berkman Center as usual.
I will announce the final location of the meetup by Sunday night.
The next meeting will be December 11 @ 6:30 pm at Havard Berkman Center in Cambridge

Hi,
I just found out about the Boston Drupal Group meeting scheduled for 10/9/07. About a month ago I set up a Meetup group, Greater Boston Drupal Meetup, and I have scheduled our first meetup for 10/10/07. How embarrassing :-). I see your future dates so I will try and schedule Meetup dates accordingly. I will also let
the Meetup folks know about the Boston Drupal Group meetings.
